I mean they gave us the roadmap saying s1 + battlepass are in march. It's just now 1 week into March. The game's barely been out a month as well. I'm sure they wanted to see how the community responded to the base game before determining and finalizing details of the battlepass and its size and scope. I don't think the timing has been an issue, really. The community interpreted the March time frame to be March 1 and built their expectations up around that, so that's on us as a community, not Respawn.

 

If they want to keep losing players to Forknife then by all means they can keep doing what they're doing

 

I'm okay with slower thought out balances and content. Like they released an awesome free game only a month ago. I almost feel bad for gaming studios at this point, nothing is ever good enough anymore. I haven't spent a single dollar on Apex yet and I've got an amazing game to play, that's good enough for me.

Not but for real it's good to hear that everyone in here is ok with slower content paces, it'd just be great if the majority of gamers felt that way too (they don't). Respawn doesn't have to worry about people like us that understand and appreciate the benefits of allowing a dev to take their time and not rush content, they have to worry about the people who wanted a Battle Pass on March 1, didn't get one, and now it's almost a week later and Fortnite has new content to play (plus the Battle Pass is free). That's a real concern when the game is still so new.

i don’t care at all about waiting for the battle pass because i’m honestly not sure if i’ll even get it as someone who is not all that bothered by cosmetics

 

The most recent numbers show that about 49.5 million of those users have since deleted the app and gone back to Realm Royale, actually.

 

that’s a marketing number dyl it’s not like that’s a concurrent playerbase, this game is very good but it’s not any less susceptible to instant gratification culture than anything else out there. the arguable target demo has the shortest attention spans on earth

Exactly. Also it's a free game, how many of those downloads were people who just got it because it was free and either never played it or tried it once and then moved on. The DAU number is what matters, and Twitch viewership is important too. Fortnite currently has almost 40,000 more viewers on Twitch than Apex does.

It's absolutely ridiculous to me to say that the game that had a surprise announcement and release on the same day, hit 2m concurrent players by its first weekend, hit 50m total players in its first month, has over half a billion subscribers to it's subreddit, has consistently been either the most viewed game on twitch or at least in the top 5 games on twitch since release, has received consistently good to great reviews, feedback, comments, and scores from gaming journalists, reviewers, streamers, hardcore and casual players (A lot of whom tried but didn't stay with other BR games like fortnite or PUBG or blackout like they have with Apex), is DOOMED or will lose a significant portion of its player base or whatever because it's first battlepass, wasn't released on some date that people on twitter and the subreddit assumed it was going to be release on because the road map said "March" and everyone just took that as March 1 even though Respawn never gave a specific date. If we get to March 31 and we don't have any information let me know and then maybe I'll change my mind, but y'all are being silly.

Still knocking down a strawman position that neither Cam nor I ever took. We never said the game is dead. What I said was it's wasting its momentum and didn't plan for the start of the game's first season as well as they could have. Both statements are factual.
