Won 2 so far tonight. One game I did fuck all. The latest one I got the final kill, which is so, so satisfying.

 

Had some good games. Am annoyed that I never show up in the champion squad image before the match. :/ it's so weird.

I’m curious if they plan on buffing that gun at all or if it will forever be relegated to meme status

 

It's a fine gun, just know how to use it. It's a good secondary to switch to when you've expended a clip or broken someone's shield if you have nothing else.

Honestly, I think if they just gave it one more bullet it could be really viable.

 

I guess doing any more than that would make it too strong.

 

Well, they memed it again this morning. They put out a thank you video that lists crazy stats on the game; crazy numbers of kills, revives, ultimates used.... and they say "Mozambique Kills: 1?"

 

I'd like to see them increase the Mozambique's rate of fire and add two more rounds in the mag. I think that may improve its usability a lot.

 

I keep seeing posts like this and they aren't exactly comparable situations. Fortnite was a new IP (that didn't even originally have anything to do with battle royale) coming in out of the blue during the early days of the battle royale craze (a craze that Fortnite wouldn't even really blow up until Fortnite took off). Apex is connected to a well-liked IP, has the backing of the second-biggest publisher in the world, and launched at a time when battle royales are popular as hell.

I don't even like Fortnite, I think Apex is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better and more fun, but tweets like that aren't really fair when Fortnite paved the way for Apex to have the success it currently has.

 

Timing was perfect for Apex to come out. Fortnite creating the craze for a free-to-play BR game almost made this an alley hoop. Apex coming out when Fortnite was starting to feel stale was very smart of them. Of course the game had to deliver and it absolutely does.

 

PUBG was released months ahead of Fortnite as well.

 

Right but PUBG wasn't a global phenomenon. It was really popular on Twitch for a while but it didn't take over the world like Fortnite did. But yeah Fortnite wouldn't have even had it's own success without PUBG, which wouldn't have had its success without its own predecessors, etc.

 

Apex is also better than fortnite. Like at the end of the day the building is divisive

 

PUBG was also $30, no? Being free-to-play was more than half the battle in Fortnite taking over PUBG’s dominance.

 

not only that, it was PC only, then Xbox only and the whole time it was a broken janky mess

 

I loved (almost) every second of the hundreds of hours I put into that janky mess on xbox

 

like, obviously the game is very good, the genre wouldn't be at the popularity that it's at without it haha

 

for sure! PUBG single-handedly got me interested in competitive shooters again and I still think there is a space for a semi-realistic battle royale that works well and is designed with console players in mind.
