YUP, had the same thought!

 

Got about halfway through this going to pick up dinner. Counting Sheep is the real standout. Love the album cover.

 

Basement came to mind for me too

 

I’m rocking with this for sure.

 

I don’t need to buy anymore vinyls, but I love this cover a ton where it’s making me want to own it

 

I change my mind about this band.

this thing has HOOKS

 

I have had “do you feel like you’re okaaaaaaayyyyyyy?” On repeat in my brain for 3 days

 

My only opinion on this that strays from the majority is that Head & Spine does nothing for me.

 

I would agree with this, it’s no coincidence that the further they’ve moved away from “shouty pop-punk” the better their music has been

 

very glad I didn't overplay the singles. "Some Girls" is so good

 

My 4 year old loves counting sheep. Such a proud dad

 

Head and Spine is my fav

 

Only song I don't love is Audrey Go Again but otherwise this is a ripper. Parts I love

- Second verse on Never Said. Reminds me a lot of Such Gold
- The pre chorus (?) in Some Girls. Honestly the pre chorus and the chorus are earworms
- TELL ME WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
- The bridge of Next Big Star. That back and forth is very Taking Back Sunday
- The lead riff on I'll Be Around.

 

Every song has at least one part that makes me think it might be the best song on the album.

 

The "let it go" in Never Said is almost exactly the same as the one in TSSF's Quicksand

 

I assumed it was an intentional reference haha

 

Yeah big the story so far influence. Jimmy, armor for sleep, death cab, Copeland, drug church

 

I'm not ready for that to be old enough (15 years!) for bands to be intentionally paying tribute to it, haha.

I was thinking earlier today this would be a great rec to someone who enjoyed Proper Dose and were disappointed that TSSF regressed back to the mean instead of experimenting with their formula a little bit more.

EDIT: also one more thing, I know we don't talk about them for obvious reasons, but there's some Better Off - Milk vibes on here too.

 

Just finished Tell Me Why and this album is phenomenal. I've found the soundtrack to my spring.

 

Incredible reference. Haven't thought of that album in years.

seems like the best album (from the genre) that came out in february anyways

 

honestly the album is sorta muddy and a lot of it just runz together. like i’ve listened to it a handful of times, but aside from the singles nothing is really standing out as new. it’s a good take on what the giants have already done, but nothing genre breaking or defining. i’m at an 8.9\10 right now on it.

 

I’ve thought the same as you on that edit many times, even as the singles came out. It’s a shame that band went the way they did. Entirely unforced errors. Really loving that some of these songs are scratching that itch
