a buddy told me about these... at 0:52 and 1:23 on head & spine, there are some strange non-drum-fills. wondering if these were specific choices or more likely just rushed production?
Those fills bother me every time I listen to that song haha. No reason to believe they weren’t choices made by the drummer, who otherwise gives an impressive performance on this record and their first. Would’ve loved something more tasteful there but hey, not my song
they didn't bother me until he pointed them out. oh well... it's kinda like that weird high frequency thing on tell all your friends. hope the drummer isn't haunted by this, lol. this record is good, so they're probably going to be doing reunion shows in 25 years. when i'm 60+ i'll have to check in on the re-recording
idk what you're talking about, I'm a drummer and those fills are good and fit within the song perfectly also their drummer is *great*
Well, not saying they’re “crazy” fills, they just don’t belong in that spot. As a person who has also played drums for much of my life (as if this qualification holds any weight lol), they feel very congested to me. He is a good drummer, just don’t love the choice there!
Was lucky enough to interview Grady. We spent most of our time talking about running and Fountains of Wayne. Anxious: It needs to be anchored in something else, too.
Wait I’m doing the Brooklyn Half this year lol. Maybe it’s time to finally get into Transatlanticism great interview!
i want them to get some good merch on black shirts that proudly display the word anxious to denote not only my love of the band but my most frequent state of being. i can’t wear white shirts the pits go yellow too quickly.
I've been revisiting the debut and this record has really made me appreciate it more. Bambi is a step up but I don't think Little Green Houses is far behind. I've kinda been sleeping.
