As far as what I know is coming out: Baby Driver Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 John Wick: Chapter Two Dunkirk Coco Star Wars: Episode VIII Kingsman: The Golden Circle Blade Runner 2049 Snatched Gifted Logan Wonder Woman The Lego Batman Movie Sorry to @popdisaster00 if this was gonna be one of the next Weekly Discussions
Star Wars: Episode VIII Alien: Covenant War Of The Planet Of The Apes Beauty And The Beast Spider-man: Homecoming Jumanji Logan Dunkirk The Lego Batman Movie There's more but I can't think of them right now...
gonna stick to ones that haven't been mentioned yet A Cure For Wellness (Gore Verbinski) Wilson (Craig Johnson) Kong: Skull Island (Jordan Vogt-Roberts) Life (Daniel Espinosa) Valerian And The City Of A Thousand Planets (Luc Besson) Tully (Jason Reitman) The Beguiled (Sofia Coppola) How to Talk to Girls at Parties (John Cameron Mitchell) Downsizing (Alexander Payne) Lady Bird (Greta Gerwig) Unicorn Store (Brie Larson) The Glass Castle ( Destin Daniel Cretton)
Man, I did not know about Unicorn Store. That's very interesting. Larson and SLJ as actors would have me sold alone but her directing? Interesting.
Three Billboards Outside Ebbings, Missouri is the new film from Martin McDonagh (In Bruges, Seven Psychopaths). In addition to most everything mentioned above already, I'm really looking forward to this one.
can't believe I forgot The Big Sick, Kumail and Emily's semi-autobiographical movie that Showalter's directing
Guardians 2 Star Wars 8 War for the Planet of the Apes Spiderman: Homecoming Thor: Ragnorok Dunkirk Logan John Wick 2 Idk what's coming really? I need to find a solid movie news site so I can find out about more stuff.
Baby Driver Silence (UK release) Alien: Covenant Blade Runner 2049 A Futile and Stupid Gesture Mute Kong: Skull Island Star Wars VIII Free Fire Downsizing The Big Sick xXx: Return of Xander Cage
I truly cannot emphasize enough how excited I am for Baby Driver. It's been too long, Edgar. Same goes for Downsizing/Alexander Payne.
Forgot about Futile and Stupid Gesture. Spider-man, I'm weirdly on the fence about. As in, I'm sure it'll be good but I don't know if I'll be wowed or anything
I usually just take movies as they come and only go out of my way to over-think comic book films 'cause I'm a nerd and a loser. Out of those films, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 easily takes the top spot, but I'm also VERY excited for Logan in spite of Fox's track record.
Lynne Ramsay's You Were Never Really Here with Joaquin Phoenix. Terrence Malick's Weightless. Bong Joon-Ho's Okja. Kathryn Bigelow's Detroit riot movie, however anxious I am about it being too white. Does Personal Shopper count? I think it's technically 2016 but I don't think it's been released anywhere yet. Would love for Olivier Assayas and Kristen Stewart to make movies together forever. Destin Daniel Cretton's the Glass Castle. I loved Short Term 12 and look forward to what he does next, though I'm probably more interested in his adaptation of Just Mercy with Michael B. Jordan, whenever that gets rolling. Sofia Coppola's the Beguiled. Kingsman: the Golden Circle. I don't usually get too excited for sequels, but adding Channing Tatum helps. Speaking of, Steven Sodebergh has a new movie coming out next year with Channing Tatum so my ticket is sold. Spielberg has the Kidnapping of Edgardo Mortara. Oscar Isaac is in it, and he's re-teaming with Alex Garland for something that I'll check out. I'll also see new Edgar Wright, Alexander Payne, and Rian Johnson because they're pretty great. Guardians of the Galaxy vol. 2, yeah. I guess I'll pray that Una gets distribution.
I'm going to base this on movies I will actually see in theaters: Beauty and the Beast Star Wars Ep VIII And ones I might pony up the dough for, because they will be better seen in a theater: Dunkirk Alien: Covenant Also I'm looking forward to Jackie. Don't even care if it's just Portman Oscar bait.
Listing a few that haven't been mentioned. I'm curious about these, but honestly don't know how good they'll be. Get Out (Jordan Peele) The Belko Experiment (James Gunn) The Coldest City (David Leitch) American Made (Doug Liman) The Snowman (Tomas Alfredson) God Particle (Julius Onah)
Justice League Wonder Woman Star Wars 8 Lego Batman Beauty and The Beast (taking the gf, she's more excited than me) Dunkirk
At least we have this: 38 of our most anticipated movies of 2017 The A.V. Club's list of 2017's most anticipated films. Lot of good stuff on there. Some Highlights: Untitled Paul Thomas Anderson Film Wonderstruck, Todd Haynes Wind River, Talyor Sheridan Under the Silver Lake, David Robert Mitchell The Meyerowitz Stories, Noah Baumbach (nee' Yen Din Ka Kissa) Last Flag Flying, Richard Linklater Happy End, Michael Haneke The Death of Stalin, Armando Ianucci Annihilation, Alex Garland The Snowman, Tomas Alfredson Logan Lucky, Steven Soderbergh
another one I'm somehow just hearing about, Beatriz At Dinner written by Mike White and directed by Miguel Arteta
