Beautiful Things is the most ambitious and I admire it greatly for that. I think some of it doesnt land. Its got 3 killer bonus tracks I could think of 3 album songs they should replace. Its def in the top 2 or 3 of his albums.
i thought pixie queen was very easily his best but also that album was pretty much exactly about my life at the time it came out.
i've largely struggled to get into AG's solo stuff, but the last couple have felt a lot better. i liked ~1/4 of avalon a lot, the first half of pixie queen is fantastic, and i like most of these well enough. keep your mouth shut in particular is already one of my favorite songs of the year.
I never liked Beautiful Things, but the bonus tracks are good. I would say Avalon, Pixie Queen, and probably this one are the best/most essential.
man the melodys on this are so much better than anything else i've heard him do solo-wise. the chorus on when i come home is particularly beautiful
Beautiful Things is probably my least favorite Anthony-related project. It's not horrible, but it doesn't do much of anything for me. I also like Avalon (and will probably go to the 10 year tour) but I think it's a little overrated in his discography.
I'll admit the nostalgia factor pushes Avalon to the top for me. It came out right before I moved to college, which I think is a pretty sentimental time in anyone's life, so I feel really attached to it. Listening to Avalon just floods my mind with those memories. The fact that was ten years ago... just crazy.
I love this album. This and The Amulet are his best work since OLG for me. His vocals are so good lately.
Yeah wow got around to this last night. such a beautiful record, if it keeps growing it will end up one of the best of the year. Best Anthony since (hot take) Beautiful Things imo
has anyone been to any of the avalon shows? Looking for a live recording of "Springtime", the new live version is incredible.
