Wasn't able to get into the last couple of his solo albums that much for some reason, but I'm really digging this.
First three songs sounded pretty monotone to me but I'm loving how things are picking up on "A Reason to Stay."
I haven't given his solo work much of a look since Avalon (which I liked a few tracks on). Overall it sounds pretty good but the tracks are blending together on a first listen.
To me it's really magical, just listened to it twice, and there are some weaker songs, but it all ties in so well together! It doesn't have that grand sound "Young Legs" had on a few moments, which is too bad, but I'll take it for what it is and I'm yet to embrace it all with some more focus on lyrics. There are definitely some crazily good moments there! Would be nice to see a review in here :)
That's where I'm at. Only 3 or so tracks really stood out overall. Also, LOVE your avatar. All three TAI... records are great and hold up really well.
yeah this is the best solo work since the debut - I enjoyed Beautiful Things but Young Legs didn't do a whole lot for me. this is fucking great though
I love how the band basically reinvented their sound for every album. Wish they had done a 4th LP. I made the icon years ago back in my early AP.net days.
I've listened to this and new Mat Kerekes, which also features production by Will Y., and Anthony on vocals on a song, like a 100 times this week :) really enjoying both of those albums!
