I've grown wary of the idea of this project personally. Obviously seems like a stacked personnel lineup, but maybe I'm too old for this? Too early to judge but I haven't connected to Thursday, MCR, or Coheed in more than a decade. Anthony (and really mostly Circa as the lynchpin) is the main connective tissue I have to this particular scene anymore. I'm really hoping this project can transcend into something more interesting than the sum of it's parts. It's cool that this has such a PA/NJ/NY tristate area supergroup vibe. These guys have been in the same orbits for 30 years+

 

Although I will say I caught Thursday on their tour earlier this year (went to see Cursive 100%) and it was admittedly a great time.

 

Maybe just wait to hear the music before growing weary of it?

This totally nails my thoughts on ATS. I liked it decently on release and have grown to love it since, but I still think Anthony went too hard on the screaming because it was his "heavy band." The verses of the title track are a perfect example - like, why? The truth of course is that TTN had plenty of screaming, but he could pull it off far better at that age and would be well served to do it sparingly now.

 

in reality I'm cautiously optimistic I guess. I'm not weary, just wary. I wish everyone involved all the best regardless of if it clicks with me. maybe it will! I ultimately feel the same way about new saosin too, even despite loving ATS. More Circa and TSOAF are much more intriguing to me at this point and I guess if I had one wish, I'd wish that Anthony would focus on those projects that suit me best lol. All in good fun of course.

 

I def felt the opposite. Favorite songs were the ones where he just let it rip

Love Circa/AG but Thursday and Coheed are a bigger draw for me personally

 

That’s def one song I felt he overdid it on.

The Stutter Says A Lot however, is so good. Anthony crushed that one.

 

Travis is one of the most underrated guitarists, this lineup rules if that’s what it is

 

Screamy Anthony is a gift. I eagerly await the inevitable death metal project.

 

coheed's last two albums are two of their best (and vaxis I is their best, imo)

 

I'm personally really glad there's so much screaming on that Saosin record and that's exactly what I take it for - Anthony's heavy output, I could even go for more - maybe it's time to go back and revisit some of Jeer at Rome after all the years.

 

Looks like we’re getting the first taste of LS Dunes on Friday… so excited.

 

This gives a bit more of an indication of what it'll sound like.

I can wait another day, but those reactions are getting me pumped. Wonder what they're plans are re:album/EP/singles/whatever

 

Sadly not my cup of tea at all anymore but I'm happy for the guys. Sounds straight out of the aughts and they probably had blast in the studio with Yip pumping these out.

 

production is pretty good for this. I think the vocals especially are less muddy than they were on ATS.
