I definitely preferred the first trailer to the second, as this feels a bit more "generic" in tone, but the flick looks great either way. Day One. Here for the Majors Moment.

 

I'm certainly going to see this (will wait for digital release), but doesnt look that good. Looks too much like a fantasty movie. Yes, a movie about a guy the size of an ant is being called fantasy. I just enjoy the first 2 because they seem to take place in "reality", I dont want to see Antman in a different dimension or whatever. But thats just a 39 year old guy talking who hasnt read 1 comic book in his life.

 

So much CGI

 

You sound like my 60 year old dad when he saw Endgame and he kept complaining about the time travel element.

He also got very mad about the movie The Butler and would go on rants about how all this stuff in the movie didn’t happen so if you wanna think that, have at it.

 

I've never even heard of The Butler.

 

This kind of feels like what Black Panther 2 was gonna be, with the hero mourning the time that he lost with his child because of The Snap. I’m all for a Marvel movie really dealing with the implications of that because it feels like none of them have done it, outside of some passing mentions.

 

Basically, Forrest Whitaker is this White House butler who serves under eight presidents and has a hand in all these US history events.

 

That’s kinda weird. But it’s not like it hasn’t happened before I guess

 

Gemma Chan, for example.

 

Yeah I guess I just don’t really remember her that much in Captain Marvel whereas this dude was funny in the first two movies

 

The CGI in this less no different than GOTG 2, which I don’t remember people having an issue with.

90% of the film is in the quantum realm. It’s going to be vibrant, weird, and mostly fake.

 

People complain about CGI too much in general

 

It definitely takes me out of it if everything just looks unreal. There has to be realism to ground it a bit and some of the movies do good jobs of that and some don't. This one looks like it could go either way.

 

There’s good cgi and bad cgi. Avatar 2 had great cgi. Most marvel is bad cgi.

There was some bad bad CGI in Wakanda Forever

 

The only films I've ever noticed bad CGI in are DC films. I get that some people probably know more than I do and know what to look for, and I'm okay with never knowing that information.

 

Don't watch the final fight in Black Panther 1

 

I've seen Black Panther 1.

(makes swatting motion) Get away, flies.

 

But I think there’s been a ton of comic book CGI/green screen fests since then and I can only speak for myself, but it’s feeling very tired.

 

yeah that’s part of my frustration is everything now is just a giant cgi clusterfuck.
