My mother wants to see this but that means she wants to see it with me. Probably not going to sit through that awkwardness.

 

One of my favorite bits in this movie is Anora continuing to not understand the difference between allulment and divorce

 

I told mum she's not allowed to watch it. She's not happy that Dad is allowed.

there wasn't a thread, but this movie baker co-wrote called left-handed girl has been on netflix for about a week now and i highly recommend it. really falling under the radar. it's directed and co-written by shih-ching tsou whose produced a bunch of his films and co-directed take out. it's really good and shouldn't be glossed over

 

Left Handed Girl probably my number one of the year. Can’t recommend enough.

 

Which other Sean Baker movies are good?

 

the florida project is my favorite of his. others have enjoyed tangerine and red rocket. also check out his earlier films like take out and starlet

 

He is on a pretty great run.

 

Haven’t seen anything pre-Tangerine, but everything since that is worth watching. Florida Project is the best

 

I love Take Out

 

Take Out is probably my second favorite of his behind Tangerine.

 

Tangerine is so good

 

Should like I gotta watch more, maybe I'll watch the new one then backtrack

 

The Florida Project, tangerine and red rocket all are good to great. Haven’t seen anything else.
