It is nice to see that the dumb mindset of “more words = more/better ‘writing’” comes up with “awards movies,” and isn’t just limited to some of the dorks I talk about comics with.

There are people everywhere without even basic understanding of what it means to be a visual medium.

Had a conversation with a friend who didn't get the ending and called it a cop out. It prompted me to write my take on the ending as response.

The ending is Anora confronted with her place in the world. Throughout the movie she displays a disconnect from her social position and how others preserve her. She believes Vanya loves her, hopes his family will accept her, that the goons are beneath her, that they are too stupid to see her truth, and Igor the lowest goon is a poor rapist.
Her loudest and repeated objection is that she is not a prostitute.

Back at the mansion after being defeated by the evil oligarchs Annie remains defiant. There is no shame in losing that match up after putting up a good fight, the same would happen to the best of us.
When Igor presents her with the ring and her response is to have has sex with him it dawns on her that can mean only two things: that she did as a payment; a thank you for services or that it was a genuine romantic act and this where she belongs, having car sex with the lowest goon. That fact there is confusion suggests both are true. The events of the film smash her identity from a dancer with a dream to a prostitute with no escape.
