it's on polyvinyl so i should probably listen

 

Are they one of those labels for you?

 

polyvinyl is always good but there's a lot of stuff that doesn't really tickle my fancy at times. the more punk/emo/indie stuff i generally like more than the more psych/folk leaning stuff, but they're a label that's always done everything right and i highly respect them for that

 

that's part of my interest as well, one of my favorite labels

 

Her former bands are unknown to me, so this caught me off guard. I'll admit her being signed to Polyvinyl helped out too. There's a lot of varied sounds on here, but the more country/folk tinged songs towards the end are my favorites. Belle Isle is a stand out track that perfectly highlights her strengths as a songwriter.

 

Don't sleep on this album.

 

This is fucking great.

Maybe I need to pay more attention to the first four, but whoa the back half of this thing is incredible. “What I Want” especially something special

More thoughts later as I imagine I’m returning to this one soon. Mac/Marika Hackman/Angel Olsen all coming to mind quickly though
