The change of pace is to cool things off from how wild Overhaul arc gets, and again to let the school kids be school kids for once. Y'all ever watch slice of life animes? It's just taking a page from that for a little bit.
That's not the issue. I don't mind that idea. I mind the way it's being executed. It's sloppy, the writing feels subpar and the style of the show is so different it's off-putting for me. I read online it's because of staff changes while they were making the new movie for the dip in quality. Makes sense, but a real bummer. No movie spoilers please. Haven't seen it yet.
i just think it wasnt well handled though. mha has done the cool down arc after something intense in other instances, the manga just did it with a story arc that was both a good way to change the pace and also advanced the story and relationships of the characters in meaningful ways. i didnt think the school festival arc did that beyond being a vehicle for eri’s growth. i dont hate the arc, it has things to like, but its by no means perfect and i think the criticism it gets is well deserved.
I always loved the Gentle arc so I dunno, I was never bothered by any of it. I think it has fun character interactions and shenanigans.
bleach is getting a new anime to cover the last arc, which could be cool if they fix how rushed it gets towards the end and let kubo tell the story he wanted to tell. also kubo is starting a new serialization in jump based on his oneshot burn the witch, which i think has a lot of potential (i just love witches) and also apparently takes place in the bleach universe. burn the witch will also be getting an anime. in other jump news: samurai 8 will be ending in a few weeks. this is a story that im surprised has not been as big outside of jump circles as i expected it to be. samurai 8 is the new series from masashi kishimoto (of naruto fame), the art is done by one of his former assistants but its about as close to kishimoto's art style as you can get. it was naturally very hyped up by jump, being teased about a year before it started (this rarely ever happens). but when the series came out reaction was generally pretty negative and then sales underperformed and now jump is actually cancelling the series less than a year into its run. its indicative of how competitive jump is, that even one of their most important mangaka can have their series, after a globally succesful series, cancelled so quickly. to be fair samurai 8 did suck, but this is not what fans were expecting and definitely not what jump expected. (end of my jump rant).
Excited for Burn the Witch! A little sad at how Samurai 8 turned out, I never read it because I'm trying to stop starring series that aren't finished for a while but I thought it looked cool!
Alright except for one IMPORTANT* detail left out, this episode of HeroAca that I've been waiting to see adapted ever since I first read it on release lived up to my hopes. Loved the song. *important only to me
On another note as much as I hate Netflix licensing anime shows because of their idiotic delaycasts, the one good thing is that I can actually recommend my sister to watch Beastars especially as we're all staying inside.
Because I have nothing else to do and they're doing a WEIRD release schedule for it with the first 6 episodes released on Netflix Japan before even airing and people subbed it already.....I watched the first 6 episodes of BNA Vague-ish spoilers for the feel of the show I guess, dunno if people want to avoid that The plot is kind of a mess for me personally and there's a bunch of world details that annoy me and I'm unclear on but it's definitely Trigger being Trigger, the absurdity and animation make it a fun watch still. Honestly my favorite thing about the show might be the ending theme, it's real real nice
i decided to spend some of the time that im stuck at home to do some more manga reading, and since im coming up to 2 weeks inside i figured id share what id been reading. note: i legit wrote like a paragraph for each entry but i deleted it all by mistake theyre all good so check them out! komi cant communicate kowloon generick romance skip to loafer takemitsuzamurai yofukashi no uta i do want to single out this crocodile will die in 100 days (no mal entry found) which is one of the most unique manga experiences ive ever had. the series is 100 short strips released daily that are each a day in the life of a crocodile, who will die in 100 days. its so mundane but so relatable, all permeated by the shadow that the crocodile's days are numbered. apparently this was a bit of a pop culture phenom in japan with many people excited over the ending. it delivered, i cried.
If you dig that kind of OTT action like Gurren Lagann and Kill La Kill them absolutely. It's a very fun watch.
going to start reading the manga of the shows I’m watching because I’m tired of my friends giving spoilers to the shows I’m watching lol
since i have nothing to do im gonna watch the first episode of every anime this season. i watched tower of god's last night, which i really enjoyed. theres some a
