I love one piece, it's probably the only manga that I absolutely HAVE to read each week, but I feel like a live action version would just be jarring. (Though I feel like devil fruit users are supposed to appear pretty jarring in the world of one piece anyway)
The only manga series' I actually own are My Hero Academia, Beastars (when it starts coming out in July), and the old Kingdom Hearts manga books lmao. I used to have Aria but I let a friend borrow them back in high school and never got them back =\
I've been buying manga for almost 20 years; as a kid there wasn't much being translated so I'd buy whatever I could get my hands on at Waldenbooks. I actually buy a lot less than I used to (less disposable income to use on manga lol) but this is a fraction of my collection from the years and they definitely do take up too much space.
When I worked at Borders I was pouring all of my money into Shonen books. I filled up dressers with them because I didn't have bookcases. lol. My mom recently sold all of them. Wish I could have kept the Death Note books. This is all I have now.
I've become a serial seller/donator/move-along-er over the past few years and my total book collection went from about two bookcases to two shelves. The only manga still standing is Solanin, which I've kept in part because the whole thing is one book (and because it's one of my favourites).
I'm still in the collecting phase, lol. I have tons and the only reason I've slowed down on buying it is because I've ran out of space. I should be moving into my new house this week though so I'll have more space for books! yay stuff!!
I very much still buy a lot of manga, alongside comic books and books in general. Boxes and shelves of it.
I've been getting back into the swing of manga collecting after selling off almost all of my old stuff. This time I'm pretty much doing it under the condition that I only buy stuff that feels a bit "higher budget" (a lot of the Vertical releases, Kodansha, etc.) as I know if I got into collecting shonen stuff all of my space would be gone. That being said, I'm in a small apartment and potentially about to make a big move, so it's poor timing on my part, but "yolo" or something. Been reading The Flowers of Evil and I love it. Grabbed up 6 volumes of Vinland Saga and that's next on my list to plow through, not to mention everything I've been reading on the SJ app (which just finally added a chapter queue-type system).
flowers of evil is great, though the ending feels kind of rushed. happiness just ended like a week ago and its not very good, it feels aimless for a long while and even when the story starts to kick off a lot of it just feels like misery porn. the last couple of chapters are pretty good though and the art has a lot of great moments. i sort of halted my manga buying until i get a hold of a new shelf. i dont mind accumulating more stuff but if i ever start putting things in boxes and storage then ill know i need to stop. dont want it to get to that point. ill pick up some volumes here and there though.
BEASTARS TV Anime Premieres in October, Will Also Stream Exclusively on Netflix (Updated) Well fuckin RIP my most anticipated anime, why of all the things did Netflix have to grab onto it
I ranked Makoto Shinkai’s films if anyone cares to read and tell me I’m wrong. A Sky Longing For Memories: Ranking The Films Of Makoto Shinkai
Anyone else catch the NA premiere of Fate/stay night [Heaven's Feel] II. lost butterfly? I saw part 1 in theaters and enjoyed it, though I'm woefully uninformed about the Fate series in general (making my way through them slowly now though). Thought to myself last week: hey, I wonder when part 2 is coming out, should be soon. I looked it up. It was—that very night. So I rearranged some plans and went. Very fun, very cool movie. Excited for the third part sometime next year.
I haven't watched the Heaven's Feel movies yet but I know people who went to the 2nd one as well and absolutely loved it, and that's coming from people who already played the VN as well
