Did people already do a list of their favorite and most hated anime? If not, I totally love seeing stuff like that.
Gurren Lagann Hunter X Hunter Neon Genesis Evangelion Fullmetal Alchemist Death Note Madoka Magica Food Wars Kiznaiver Jojo's Bizarre Adventure Kill La Kill Probably my top 10. I think the only anime I hate are those awful Berserk adaptations.
Hmm...I'm on the new season of Food Wars and I just got to the part where the dad shows up and takes over the school and I really liked the show up until then, but that "twist" or new plot made me cringe and roll my eyes so hard that I stopped watching. Does it get any better?
Im into it. I'm not much further but there's some really cool things that come from that and I'm excited to see how it shakes out.
depends how much of your enjoyment came from the matches over the actual plot? ive read the manga until a pretty recent point and i swear it's been like a year and a half of just back to back to back shokugekis with plotlines that don't make any characters worth rooting for. it's still good at handling making food like an action series and tying that to some humorous or clever setpiece, but the plot is almost non-existent and the villain is so dull.
i dont have a list of hated anime, regularly if im not feeling an anime ill drop it by the 2nd or at most the 3rd episode, i dont have the patience for anime i dont really enjoy. but my top 10 is something like 1. penguindrum 2. drrr 3. utena 4. hunter x hunter 5. devilman crybaby 6. azumanga daioh 7. kuragehime 8. ping pong 9. millenium actress 10. monogatari series
it's not lol and this is coming from someone who really enjoyed a lot of it. the series hasnt been that popular in japan for some time now so it's felt like theyve been in the process of wrapping it up for the longest but they still have so many characters they've introduced that havent had a chance to cook yet so theyve just been going through all of them really quickly and tying them to a villain's flimsy motivations. idk if youve seen naruto but it's like that part towards the end when all these random characters come back to make all these matchups that have little motivation other than "isn't it cool to see these two fight?".
Whoa. A few I haven't heard of so that excites me. I also have a three episode rule. If I don't like it or find it interesting by the third episode I drop it. Also, this is just me, but I'm constantly surprised HxH is on people's lists but Yu Yu isn't.
im generally pretty bad about watching anime, im too impatient when it comes to sitting myself down and watching something. a lot of these series i saw a while back. for the past 3 years ive finished maybe 1 or 2 series per year. i really like yu yu (mind you ive never seen the anime but ive read the manga), the characters have a lot of heart but i always felt like hxh had that plus better world buidling, more interesting abilities, and better tension. ive also read your posts about chimera ant arc and i disagree so...
Yu Yu is ace but I think HxH is streets ahead of it in every way. Also, top anime films.. 1. End of Evangelion 2. Perfect Blue 3. Princess Mononoke 4. A Silent Voice 5. Ponyo 6. Spirited Away 7. Madoka Movie 3 8. My Neighbor Totoro 9. Paprika 10. Howls Moving Castle
That first sentence changed my who perception of you and you were one of my favorites. I am sad. It's always nice to see someone who lists movies because it gives me some different things to explore. I don't always have the time to invest in a series.
i also love how good hxh is at handling all these non-conventional plotlines for a shonen action series. like a chunk of york city arc is figuring out ways to make a lot of money and like the specifics behind counterfeiting valuables and it's still so engaging. or greed island with the card game, or the election arc being about... well an election. like it's been a while in the manga since we actually had a fight and it's still so intriguing my heart still skips a beat anytime i see its coming out of hiatus. i cant think of a single action series that can be removed from action and fights for so long and still be the most entertaining thing out there.

I can not. Sorry. If there were a list of vital anime you should watch it would look like this: Cowboy Bebop Full Metal Alchemist Keijo Hunter X Hunter Yu Yu Hakusho Keijo Sailor Moon Dragon Ball Z Azumanga Daioh Keijo G Gundam Keijo
Thanks haha, I kind of pride myself on not limiting myself to any certain genres which is why my favorites are kind of all over the place :P
