Hi!!!!!! I'm pretty new into anime! Sword Art Online was my first series I watched and then I also just watched Devilman Crybaby. I just started Food Wars which I'm lovingggg and have My Hero Academia queued up next! I have a long flight coming up so I'd like to download a new series on Netflix or watch in the air! Can you guys shoot me some recommendations? As you can see with what I've watched so far, I'm not exactly sticking to a specific style, so I'm up for anything! Watcha guys digging on Netflix lately?
I'm going to forgive you for watching Sword Art Online because not only was it your first anime, but you have an excellent track record with the anime you watched after. Having anime exclusive to Netflix kind of limits things a bit, but there are still some gems. Here are my recommendations: Full Metal Alchemist Brotherhood One Punch Man (it's a comedic spin on the whole superhero/superhuman genre) Your Lie In April (if you don't like emotional things, do not watch this, I'm serious) Mushi-shi Hope you find something you like.
I second all those recommendations^ I'll also suggest Death Note (supernatural drama/mystery/thriller), Castlevania (gothic dark fantasy/action), and Attack on Titan (post-apocalyptic action). Can't go wrong with Full Metal Alchemist if you're new to anime. I can't remember which I enjoyed more myself, the original series or Brotherhood, but I think people generally lean more towards Brotherhood.
Sword Art Online is one of those anime that a lot of people hate because of how poor the second season was in comparison to the first. There's also this whole thing with fan service and then another whole thing with people who claim it's a revolutionary show about people being stuck in a game when a ton of other shows had done it before and handled it much better. It's kind of convoluted and it's really only (and I hate to use this term) "hardcore" anime fans who have a problem. I think a lot of it is people hating things that are just average getting recognition over things that are superb because one is mainstream and the other isn't. Anyway, if you love emotional things, I would HIGHLY suggest Kimi Ni Todoke. It's probably the best show I've ever seen (anime or otherwise) to accurately depict friendship and the feeling of being misunderstood. It's quite emotional and heartwarming at the same time. It's only on Crunchyroll though. Just a recommendation, but if you're going to start watching a lot more anime, Crunchyroll is where to start.
Gurren Lagann Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood Death Note One Punch Man Cowboy Bebop All super great choices on Netflix.
One anime I always recommend (and one that is a favorite of mine) is 'Beck: Mongolian Chop Squad' it is an amazing anime if you are into rock music. Also if you're into English Dubs, this dub actually has the English VAs covering the songs. I really recommend this show.
Has anyone read the Jojo manga? The hard covers are beautiful and I'm tempted to start grabbing them.
It's sexist, lacks character development, and is predictable. It's average at best. It went downhill after Aincrad. I think the movie SAO Ordinal Scale was (mostly) a return to form though. I hope SAO 3 is even better.
Anyone watch Aggretsuko? Really enjoying the cutesy animation juxtaposed with the death metal rage scenes and frustrating, shitty life situations
Also I dunno if anyone is reading MHA manga too but 184 just came out and what a dope chapter, top 10 heroes fully revealed and POTENTIAL TOKOYAMI ARC I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR SO LONG Oh and Orca got booted out of the top 10 which is an absolute travesty.....but Kamui and Mt Lady being together is A+ ESPECIALLY WITH THE ANIME ADDING THAT SCENE IN THE CAR AHHHHH
