Mari Okada* knows how to write a successful tearjerker, but her melodramatic style often doesn't engage me beyond the moments where she's depicting dramatic events. It feels like watching a series of compelling moments that don't add up to a compelling story overall, so there's limited staying power. Still, I'm interested enough that I'll be watching her directorial debut — Let's Decorate the Promised Flowers in the Farewell Morning (it's actually a post-rock album) — when it comes out on BD. * Original creator and writer of Kiznaiver. HeroAca episode 43 More good good shit, Aizawa with those moves and Class 1-B putting in work also ya here comes my dark bird boy, I've been waiting for this since first reading it
I gotta get to MHA S3. This arc is where I caught up to the manga and then never got around to getting past so it's mostly new material, pretty excited although I'm almost certain I'll cave and read the manga again.
Has anyone else been following the Digimon Tri revival movies these past couple years? The sixth and final one just released.....and I have mixed feelings on the whole thing. I was huge on Digimon growing up, S1 and S2 of the anime were my shit. Way better than the Pokémon anime. The first movie was such a promising start. A mature Digimon sequel?! What could be better? But things slowly got worse as they kept coming out. Tons of questions left unanswered as every movie introduced new questions and never answered old ones. There’s also the incredibly awkward handling of the S2 cast, which I really don’t know what to make of. I guess overall it was cool to relive a little off the excitement of seeing the original protagonists and their Digimon in new content. Hopefully there’s a new series on the way that delivers a bit better. I have no idea how the revival has been received or if anyone other than me really gave a crap about it.
I've been following it since it was first announced, watching them as they came out. Now that's it's done I'm re-watching them, this time in English, so I'll see if anything changes. I've enjoyed most of the journey though. I think it's the third movie especially that actually had a moment that made me tear up. But obviously I haven't watched the final one yet. That being said, Tai's a bitch and Joe is ridiculous with his school shit. Also the back and forth with Meiko and Meicoomon starts to get a bit grating a few films in. I think that's probably my biggest gripe with Tri, there's so much drama over dumb little things that shouldn't be as much drama as they are. But then again anime in general does that quite often.
I really hated the first movie so I was waiting until they were all out to see if they got better. After hearing that they got worse I'm not sure I'll bother watching them.
Hero Academia episode 44 it's ya boy taking down Moonfish and being the best. Along with Shoji. And Toga vs Uraraka and Tsuyu was done well
Yea Megalobox did a great job with Aragaki. It's funny because Megalobox does a lot of cliche things, just very well. Kind of like Hero Academia
I've been kind of slacking/disappointed with anime recently. I'm mainly referring to new shows, not returning like Food Wars or MHA. Darling in the Franxx was a major letdown. It seems finding a good mech show is impossible these days.
Actually I thought Franxx was quite entertaining this week, and has been for a decent bit now. Started off kind of weak but like episode 10 and on have been pretty cool.
Sorry, but if a show, especially an anime, takes ten episodes to get even decent, I'm not wasting my time. That's too long.
I felt that way about Steins;Gate tho haha and it was worth it in the end. It was confusing at first and I didn't know where it was going but I loved the second half.
I mean even the first 10 episodes kept my intrigue because of the world. It was really the characters that were annoying me, like Hiro. He's gotten better though. But I feel you, not everyone wants to commit that time. I'm usually really try to give things a big shot before I give up on them, and I find value in most things so it usually works out.
I've loved Franxx from the beginning. The mechs are probably the least interesting part of the show though.
I just didn't want some shallow romance and a story about a girl I legitimately don't understand how people can fawn over. I wanted a good mech anime with solid world building. The fan service in that show...
Started Steins Gate 0. So happy there’s a sequel, but does anyone else watching know where this show deviated from the original animes timeline? It’s been a long time since I’ve seen the original. Now that there’s more of this, I just really need news of a new season of Re:Zero.
I really enjoyed (most of) Re:Zero. I hated the whole thing with Felt and how he acted when he was trying to "stand up" for Emilia. Also, what the hell happened to Elsa? I really want to see her arc.
