Yes! Hit some of the political notes of LotGH, I liked it. I too would spend what I'm sure would be way too much money on a complete boxset of LotGH. Give me EVERYTHING.
i only finished one anime last year and it was acca 13, loved the political thriller aspect of it but also love the setting. everything felt so lived in and them always talking about food and drinks made it so real. very hyped for the new lotgh, never finished the og anime but i did see the first movie and a handful of episodes of the series and enjoyed them a lot.

I’m super new to anime, but can anyone rec me some movies or shows that have these beautifully animated peaceful landscapes that I’ve seen in Marnie, Your Name, etc? I’m a sucker for these because I actually find them to relieve stress.
The director of Your Name also did a very beautiful film called Garden of Words that might fit what you're after.
Most movies by Studio Ghibli (who did Marnie) would qualify. Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, Kiki's Delivery Service, and Castle in the Sky are my four favourites, but it's hard to go wrong. Also, other movies by Makoto Shinkai (director of Your Name). Children Who Chase Lost Voices is particularly full of beautiful landscapes. A few other recs: The Eccentric Family, Mushishi, and A Letter to Momo.
Awesome thanks so much. I’ve seen, and loved, Mononoke and Spirited Away, but I will definitely be seeking these others out. I had heard about Garden of Words, sounds perfect for a relaxing rainy day viewing.
The first episode of FLCL Alternative (yes, the third season) premiered last night as Toonami's April Fool's joke.
I won't get a chance to watch it until a little later today but from what I've seen a lot of the talk is that it's a good first episode but doesn't quite get as wacky right off the bat.
I'm like 6 episodes away from finishing Cowboy Bebop and it's such a great show that I am sad I just now got into it. The opening intro is seriously my fave especially the 3,2,1 lets jam part.
We won't soon forget Takahata's films, his co-founding of Ghibli, and his contributions to the whole industry.
As far as recap episodes go I liked it. Fun mix of stuff. Man this season is gonna have SO MUCH STUFF, there's so many certain moments from the manga I can't wait to see
I finished A Place Further than the Universe yesterday. A wonderful show with solid character writing and direction. I think the creators bit off more than they could chew in 13 episodes, but I applaud their ambition. I'm happy to get two good shows per season and I got that in Winter 2018 with A Place Further than the Universe and Laid-back Camp. For the Spring 2018 season, I'll be watching Amanchu Advance (the series my avatar is from) and Hisone and Maso-tan. I'll probably try out a few others, like Tada-kun Never Falls in Love. If Tada-kun is as funny as Monthly Girls' Nozaki-kun (same director), it'll be worth watching.
Violet Evergarden finally got added to Netflix in the United States. It's incredible. I highly recommend it.
I was just chilling in the front area of my local movie theaters and a group of people cosplaying as naruto characters just started chilling next to me. It was a big group like 10+ cosplaying. It was the strangest thing because I didn't expect that to happen today.
I should get back on Franxx, I'm like 2 episodes back. I've warmed up to it since the world building is by far the most interesting part of it, and they've been giving that more and more. I'm still not crazy about Hiro but not sure if you're supposed to be.
