I’ve started going digital on manga to save a little money and space. Hope everyone had a good Christmas!
i JUST got to Stardust Crusaders and holy shit, the original manga must have influenced the creators of Warframe a ton because the Stands and how they operate is eerily similar to Warframes. but yeah the JoJos themselves have all been cool, the first arc kind of dragged but the last one was awesome and this one has also been fantastic. at first i felt like this show relied way too much on tropes but i didnt realize how big of a gap there was between the manga and the anime. this show probably started a lot of these tropes, like the "i have a special attack that will destroy you!" "i knew you would say that, so im going to counter with a more powerful ability to cancel your attack!" "aha! i had a feeling youd be prepared so i prepared something special before this battle to assure my victory!" "WHAAAAAAAAT!??!?! THATS IMPOSSIBLLLLLLLLLLLLLE!!!!!" or the constantly escalating bad guys that make the previous bad guys look like canon fodder a la Dragon Ball Z. but yeah im loving it so far. its so creative and weird
yeah, it's a lot of now-tropes that weren't quite as ubiquitous back in the 80s, though dragon ball did a lot of these first/maybe simultaneously? dunno how that actually times out. part 1 is necessary in setting up the jojo lineage but it is the least interesting part, and the battles/general insanity really ramp up in part 3, you're in for quite the treat. i love how bright and vibrant and colorful everything is and the really inventive character designs, such a visually fantastic show.
yeah it seems like both probably influenced a lot of those tropes, DBZ also has a lot of that "whaaaat you cant be that strong thats impossible!!!!" stuff too im loving the designs and visuals. i love the Stands in particular, such a neat idea thats really fleshed out well so far. the shows also funny too, in the first episode Joestar has a funny line where hes like "this is my Stand! it can produce psychic photographs that show the future, unfortunately i have to destroy a 30,000 Yen camera every time i use it!"
Watches episode 0 of the Persona 5 animation and it was really fun. It sounds cheesy, but it was like hanging out with old friends haha
somehwat related: in high school me and a group of friends all got the 5ds game for the ds so we could duel and the story mode has this one part where you get your deck and bike taken away and you have to do the actual worst stealth segment in a video game ever.
Try the first episode and see if it fits. I love it but totally can see people not getting down with it.
Starting My Hero Academia right now. Always wanted to see it. I've been trying to view new shows but cannot think of where to start. Tried Devilman Crybaby but the animation in the first episode threw me. Might try it again depending on how MHA goes.
tried to convince my brother to watch devilman crybaby with me on netflix but he wasn't so sure, we ended up watching the hoopa pokemon movie which was unbelievably bad.
Been watching March Comes In Like a Lion again. I started it way back when season 1 started airing and fell behind. on episode 8 right now.
