Worse thing ever is when you see an anime for the first time and people spoil future episodes. To be fair, I was watching the first two episodes of Terra Formars dubbed with a small crowd of fans.

 

Did you end up watching it? I really like Another. Probably going to do a rewatch sometime soon.

I haven't read any of his manga yet, but I should.

For Winter 2018, I'm excited for Devilman Crybaby, Darling in the FranXX (what is with these names), and Violet Evergarden. I'm curious about A Place Further Than the Universe. It's an original show and the trailer looks pretty good, despite the "cute girls doing cute things" vibes. The main staff have worked on some decent shows.

 

Has anyone seen My Tomorrow, Your Yesterday? It’s live action, but reminded me so much of 5 Centimeters Per Second. Also frustrating because I saw it on an international flight, and was trying to find where to buy/legally stream it but it’s nowhere to be found

 

Finished CCS this morning. What an incredible series. So excited for Blank Card!

I also started Himouto Umaruchan the other day and that’s such a fun and silly show

speaking of which, i'm on ep 54/70 of CCS, and i'm going to watch the movies after. i want to get the omnibus volumes of the CCS manga as well.

I watched the first movie last night and it was really great! I think the translation team was different than the one that did the tv series though because they spelled some of the names differently (like spelling it Shaoran instead of Xiaolang??) I didn’t realize the second movie wasn’t on Crunchyroll though so now I gotta do some searching

 

Started Ace of the Diamond yesterday morning. Looking forward to some intense bottom of the 9ths

 

I'm still sad I never got to finish that show even though I only had like 15 episodes left.

I'm still enjoying Land of the Lustrous, though I'm more excited for the next manga volume than the last episode. Whale Children is a beautiful trainwreck that I will forget shortly after finishing.

Not sure if I mentioned in here that I watched The Night Is Short, Walk On Girl, but that was really funny. Not on par with The Tatami Galaxy, but worth watching if you're a fan of Yuasa. Also on the movie front, I need to get around to In This Corner Of The World.

For Winter 2018, Devilman Crybaby (more Yuasa) and Darling in the FranXX (Trigger) are on my radar.

 

yeah for winter im excited for darling in the franxx (the mech looks just like the star driver one!), houshin engi, and the junji ito stuff. ill probably finish 0 of them though

 

indulging in my christmas tradition of watching Evangelion

 

im going to ramble a bit so bare with me, but im part way through Evangelion and i just feel the need to gush about it

i think ive talked about this on here before but i was once very deeply rooted in theology. not just christianity but also hebrew, islam, catholicism, basically the monotheistic beliefs although i did scratch the surface on a lot of polytheistic beliefs. but anyways, very much involved in theology, took several college classes on it as well as reading various texts, listening to sermons and podcasts, and just doing independent research. im slowly getting back in touch with those beliefs i once held but the reason im telling yall this is because of how striking the symbolism in Evangelion is. im sure im not really revealing anything most fans dont know but i just love the hundreds of little details and references to various religious beliefs. obvious ones like Adam, Eve, Lilith, all of the Angels being named after actual Angels in Hebrew/Islamic tradition, but even little things like the Lance Of Longinus being the spear that pierced Jesus' rib when he was crucified, the 3 supercomputers are named after the 3 magi/wise men that visited Jesus in Bethlehem, the Hebrew Tree Of Life is shown in the opening title sequence, the Seele logo referencing the Old Testaments description of Yahweh having seven eyes, all of that stuff is just wonderful.

i also picked up even more of the psychoanalysis stuff that seems to run rampant within the show. all of the Freudian references and psychological ideas, all of the characters being so drastically affected by their parents actions and living up to their unreasonable expectations. i just fucking love this show so much

 

got two amazon gift cards for the holidays and bought spent most of it on manga. im starting to run out of space for my collection

 

I've run out of space already. I don't have much space but still. I need to get my own place asap and one of the main reasons is for more manga space. Still got Platinum End 4, Tokyo Ghoul 10, The Promised Neverland 1, One Punch Man 12 and the Death Note box set for Christmas. Just have nowhere to put them.

 

nice choices, i really wanted to pick up promised neverland but i decided to finish other collections first before jumping into another series. i picked up, ichi-f, gou tanabe's lovecraft collection, tokyo ghoul 3, hxh 33, descending stories 3, land of the lustrous 3, golden kamuy 3, planetes omnibus 2, and punpun 7. with that i finished my punpun, planetes, and hxh collection (at least until vol 34 comes out next year).

 

I try to borrow manga from the library and re-sell manga that I don't anticipate wanting to reread or lend. I'd say that my overall book collection is under control, haha.
