On the subject of depressing manga, given that it's a relatively popular one if anyone wants to absolutely hate themselves go read Oyasumi Punpun
Either works. The anime is my second favourite of all time and I've started reading the manga and that's fantastic so far as well.
Yes! YKK is calming and often profound in a "small things in life" kind of way, as you rightly put it. It's similar to ARIA. Obligatory link to "mono no aware".
That's why I've been waiting to binge watch the second series of MHA. From what I've heard though, this new series is pretty hype =D
I read the first volume of Pluto in one sitting. Good stuff. I'm a pretty big fan of GoGo Monster. Have you read Ping Pong? That's high on my to-read list, given how much I loved the anime adaptation. Also, do you have a top manga list? I wouldn't mind mining it for recs.
yeah i've read ping pong, it's a lot of fun though not much different from the anime. gogo monster is like his most bizarre work i think. i would highly recommend blue spring, it's a one volume collection of short stories that highlights a concept he's quite good at handling (wasted youth). his latest series sunny is also very good and sometimes very sad though i have not finished it. as to a favorites list ive honestly never been able to do that with manga but here goes some random favorites that you might enjoy ayako (drama/historical) cromartie high school (comedy) cross game (sports/romance) golden kamuy (action/historical) gozen 3-ji no muhouchitai (comedy/romance) houseki no kuni (fantasy/action) kokou no hito (drama/sports) pyu to fuku jaguar (comedy) ran to haiiro no sekai (fantasy/romance) sakamichi no apollon (music/romance) shiki (mystery/horror) yakusoku no neverland (mystery/horror) mostly tried to avoid really big names (aside from the osamu tezuka one) but here are some series that i really like that i think don't get enough attention and that you might like. also idk whether you're planning on watching it or not but the hxh manga is also incredible and i recommend you get into the series any way you see fit.
Awesome — thanks! I haven't read any of those and will definitely try a handful. A few (like Golden Kamuy and 3am Dangerous Zone) have been rec'd to me before, but I didn't pursue them. I've seen all or part of the adaptations of Cross Game, Kids on the Slope, and Shiki. Wasn't big on Shiki, but liked the other two a lot.
I used to love anime, but I prefer k-dramas. I guess I used to love Ghost Fighter, Slam Dunk, Hit Man Rebourne, Sailor Moon and more.
Yo btw guys if you want an ongoing comedy manga I seriously rec Jitsu Wa Watashi Wa, it's left me howling way too many times. Absolutely stellar use of ongoing gags
my hero academia episode this week was so goood. curse animes and the amazing cliffhangers they leave.
