What's fascinating is the new season is being made by FuRyu, which is primarily a video game developer. It looks like this is their first anime. FuRyu - Wikipedia
I've never heard of any of them, and some of them sound straight up fake. "The Legend of Legacy" lol. Not super optimistic.
I hate that I am so useless. The only thing I can say is they remind me of Idea Factory and I love IF's games. I am just a big fan of scrappy JRPG companies in general. I realize this is not that helpful.
I'm currently playing The Alliance Alive. I'd call it ... mid+ maybe? Like I'm enjoying it and I plan to beat it, and it's got some fun stuff going on, but I wouldn't call it great necessarily. Good though.
Chainsaw Man part 2 is ending next week. There's been no announcement about a part 3, and the most recent chapter says next week is "the final chapter" so we'll see if it's the true ending of it. Part 2 is a mixed bag, I like how weird it is and while there's a lot going on, it also feels like nothing is happening. Fuji is definitely burnt out, the majority of the art looks like rough sketches and then you'll get a couple panels of incredible art. I really miss some of the cozy, slice of life stuff from the first part. Still need to see Reze arc
Part 2 is messier than Part 1 but it’s also far more thematically fascinating. Part 1 is a pretty conventional story by comparison. I remember thinking Part 2 felt like a mess, but then I went back and reread it all within the past couple months and it flows much better when you’re able to read it all together instead of waiting week to week
I got to the point where I feel like that's how all manga is for me so I just wait for things to be done before I read them. I've yet to read any of part 2 so I'm looking forward to finally checking it out when it's done.
Man, if that's really the ending of Chainsaw Man...real bad. If it's just the end of part 2, still pretty mid. quite literally did the it was all a dream ending
Well, not literally that. But yeah I'm pretty disappointed In general isn't the way the industry works such that the authors have to basically set a hard deadline months in advance? I recall reading about that once. But then they basically inevitably realize that they don't have enough time left to flesh out the ending fully, so it becomes extremely rushed and there are a ton of loose threads left. Same thing with JJK and Bleach
just finished reading the last chapter of chainsaw man... and idk what yall are talking about my GOAT absolutly stuck the landing, I knew fujimoto had it in him
also have a theory on how to swallow the pill that is the last chapter better. spoilers ahead when denji wakes up in the cabin start playing dont you forget about me by Simple Minds and read it at a speed that when you get to the last panel the chorus is starting up. and let the song play out while letting that last panel linger and I feel like itll click for ppl. I Feel like this works because it feels like a movie ending where characters are going about their lives unaware of the horrors they experienced in a different timeline.
