A few years ago I would say a live action Akira is impossible. After Dune, I just think it would be unreasonably difficult. I don’t have much faith. I really wish they would do an anime series that faithfully adapts the manga. I think Otomo said he was going to do it but no news of that for a while
I read the manga for the first time a few years ago. I love the movie, but thought it would be a lot better if they adapted the rest of it.
I'm fine with a live action movie. If they nail it, then it's gonna be amazing. If it's not, I'll just forget about it. I'm sure we'll get the vibe from it before it even comes out.
Akira is one of the few times I prefer the anime to the manga. I feel like the manga ended up feeling too dragged out and the anime had a lot of great moments that weren't in the manga. It's cool to have both versions do something different and unique though.
Wasn't Jordan Peele attached to Akira before? If that's the caliber they stick with, it could be great.
The last attached director was Taika Waititi, and I don’t want that at all, and I’m guessing he’s not attached anymore. I don’t think Jordan Peele could put it off either. and I prefer the manga over the movie. I love all that extra shit
Oh fuck, that last scene, is she finally getting her memory back? Also, need more people finding out they're zombies and being totally chill about them being adorable idol zombie girls.
I really need to catch up on anime movies. Him and Makoto Shinkai. I'm like ten years behind, it's kinda embarrassing tbh
Mostly sharing for this about the Demon Slayer movies: Hoping fairly evenly placed doesn't mean yearly.
That makes me excited. I just randomly watched a movie I guess. Thought it was an episode but it was like an hour and a half. Decent movie. noticed the animation changed and seems to have jumped in quality again
which is, funnily enough, a far safer bet for western adaptation as it's a fantasy world with an international cast. not so for Akira lol
yeah, whole cake is definitely the best timeskip arc though the newest arcs have been decent because Oda started picking up plot threads again instead of dicking around and artificially inflating the series
