I’m excited for kodansha house Sunday in NYC I got picked from the lottery for the Kamome Shirahama q&a/signing. I hope I get info on when the WHA anime is coming, I need more then just 2025.
What I find interesting is that this is apparently the first anime adaptation of an American webcomic. I have to wonder why this one in particular, since the summary sounds like literally every other isekai/rebirth story in existence.
eh. It seems like the 4 episodes weren’t long enough to develop the story so it makes no sense half the time plus the animation wasn’t the best. it just had a high quality hype trailer and it turned out to be the complete opposite lol
Probably my 2nd favorite new show this year after Frieren. Incredible shows and Apothecary Diaries needs more recognition.
Finally got around to watching the Dandadan anime and it's so good. It's fun to revisit the beginning of it after keeping up with the manga for a while now
I honestly can’t tell you either cause I’m an anime only person. Hopefully someone in the thread can enlighten us more.
Begrudgingly finished Uzumaki, what a letdown. Bad animation aside, the concepts and ideas are cool but they rushed the shit out of it in the end. Pacing was no good. Felt like they tried to put way too much stuff in the last ep.
I just finished Uzumaki, and I actually loved the last episode. Was very pleasantly surprised, especially with how rushed the previous episodes were. I see a lot of complaints about how everyone just acts like everything is normal after each insane thing that happened, but that’s how the manga is. It’s basically just self contained stories that take place with the same characters in the town. And as great as Junji Ito’s art is, and how gnarly it gets, his stories are also goofy as hell. it’s a shame it wasn’t better, and I can only imagine how jarring the series is for non manga readers, but there was enough good stuff in there for me. also Max sucks shit and was missing a bunch of subtitles
as far as I remember (it’s been years since I read the manga) it covers every chapter other than a bonus “deleted” chapter.
On the one hand, I've always assumed Monogatari was never dubbed because it is very much for "advanced" anime watchers, if you follow my meaning. Toothbrushes are just the tip of the iceberg. On the other hand, I've been continually surprised at the anime nowadays that does get an English dub and Monogatari is a thousand times better than they are, so maybe it’s an idea that's time has come.
Just started Dressrosa I like Law and where the story is going currently. also I love when they bring back characters. Dugong!
Law and Momo/Kinemon were functionally Straw Hat crew members, given they were main characters and allies for basically half of the series’ episodes so far lol
I freaking love Luffy. They’ve done such a good job at making him the most enjoyable lead character in probably any anime I’ve watched. You can’t help but root for him and he never fails to make me laugh with some of his stupidity. I hope Dressrosa is good. Some people have told me they loved it and some have said they haven’t. also, I keep getting clips of battles coming in egg head island on my threads feed and holy shit the animation looks like a crazy step up. Even if it keeps spoiling me smh
