Ah--I just finished S1 of JJK. I thought it was 26 eps but it's only 24. Much as I'd love to keep going, I think I wanna switch to something else for a bit to put off watching Nobara die
Don’t forget to watch the movie, JJK 0. It’s integral to the story and very important you watch it before S2.
No problem! It’s a prequel to the whole series but it ties heavily into the story in S2 so it definitely fits perfectly between 1 & 2.
dude, like, i know it's a trope for the main character of a shounen to be kinda stupid as an insert character for the audience, but like, Denji is really fucking stupid haha edit: puke kiss gross ah-- puke girl died also, Makima scary.
Denji is stupid in an actually interesting way though. He’s like a blank slate slowly rising through Maslowe’s heirarchy of needs. He never had a solid source of food or housing so that’s all he thinks about, then he gets it and realizes that there’s more to life than that, and so on throughout the series. And he never has any greater aspirations beyond that immediate short-term goal lol. And he’s completely untethered from any sense of societal norms or morals
got through 11 eps of Frieren between xmas day and yesterday, immediately fell in love with the show. Perfect balance of cozy slice of life and fantasy action.
also those last 3 eps of Zom 100 were nice to get on xmas. I know they had tons of production issues behind the scenes but I selfishly wish it was a full 24-26 ep season because its just so damn good
Ah, so JJK 0 is a flashback arc, and Hidden Inventory goes even further back. Good stuff, fills in a lot of the story, but Amanai's death was sad. Ready to head back to the current timeline, even if it means I'm that much closer to Nobara's death. This series is making me feel things and I don't like it.
Hidden Inventory is a flashback arc but technically JJK 0 was actually the beginning of the series -- it was the first thing Gege wrote/published, and after the success of that, he made a whole new thing with Yuji/Sukuna Would be interesting to hear from someone who reads/watches JJK 0 before anything with Yuji to see how they perceive the series, particularly their perception of Geto, since most people's intro to him is simply "human who is mysteriously aligned with the special grade cursed spirits," not "guy who wants to genocide all non-sorcerers"
As someone who started with JJK 0, the Geto thing didn't really bother me. My potential hot take is that I vastly prefer Yuta as a protagonist.
I hope we get a FMA anime project announced in 2024. It would be nice to see those characters again in a contained movie story post epilogue. Ed not being able to use alchemy and contributing to the fight in some other way would be neat.
I think I'm about halfway through the Shibuya arc. Gojo fight was nuts, and Yuji vs the blood guy was pretty cool too. Endless fish guy's ability is kinda dumb but Maki saying "Octobitch" was definitely a highlight.
I think I like Hidden Inventory more. I liked how bright and colorful it was, a short contained story
Not that it wasn’t obvious but they officially announced the new season of JJK today. But they’re doing that thing where they’re calling it a sequel show and not season 3, so it’s called JJK: The Culling Game, which is just the name of the next big arc. Sucks we probably won’t see it until 2025. I’d rather wait than have MAPPA treat their animators the way they have been though.
Well shit looks like there’s no dub episode of JJK today because of the holidays. I was really excited to see a scene from today’s episode too. Hope everyone else enjoys the finale!
The Culling Game is the next arc, so it sounds like they’re just doing the same thing as Demon Slayer where they explicitly define each season by its arc. Which I think they did for this season too — the openings and posters explicitly say “Hidden Inventory / Premature Death” and “Shibuya Incident”
