I start Good Luck Girl as a palate cleanser and in the first episode the main character's butler and only friend suffers a heart attack and I'm like, "What are you doing to me, anime? Stop! My heart can't take this!"
Using such beautiful animation for an anime about a human-sized cat is absolutely hilarious to me. Don't get me wrong, I need this in my life, but still, hilarious what anime cut corners while this goes out of its way to look good.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse Film Gets Manga Spinoff About Doc Ock in Schoolgirl's Body I don't even. Just the weirdest concept.
Finished Good Luck Girl. Unhinged show but had the right amount of drama and character development to it as well. Shame it never continued past one season. I still don't feel quite ready to wade into something serious again, so I'll probably start MariaHolic.
I love when an anime I'm watching just happens to reference one I've just previously seen. Good Luck Girl had a joke that referenced To Love Ru, and I just saw a joke in MariaHolic that referenced Sayonara Zetsubou-Sensei. It just gives a nice continuity to my anime watching.
Just caught up on Dead Mount, Death Play. I figured it would be good since it’s the same writer as Baccano! & Durarara!! So far it’s not as good as either of those but still enjoyable.
Watching MariaHolic, and the episode I'm on just referenced Infinite Stratos. I've never seen anything reference Infinite Stratos before. I don't know how to feel about this.
Finished MariaHolic, and it was only okay. Had some problematic elements, especially in the beginning, and unfortunately chose to make the protagonist less likeable as the show went on. It had moments that were entertaining, but that's all I could say for it. Moving on to Moriarty The Patriot.
as much as I dislike Crunchyroll and think it's trash, Hulu is exponentially worse for subs. They only offer closed captioning so it includes captions for all the sound effects, they get out of sync CONSTANTLY, and there are a handful of times I don't think they're even correct.
I've noticed that a bunch while watching Heavenly Delusion on there. Constantly having to close out of the app just to get the subs to sync is so annoying. Its worse on other apps for me. Sometimes Paramount or Peacock just straight up refuse to show subs when I clearly have them turned on. Dont even get me started on english dubbed shows with no english subs or english subs that don't match the dub.
I’m currently watching Heavenly Delusion (only 3 episodes in) and in the second episode even restarting the app didn’t fix the sync. weirdly peacock ALWAYS defaults to subtitles, I have to manually turn them off for every single episode of TV I watch on there
Watched five episodes of Moriarty The Patriot, and it's interesting, but so far a little rote. It's basically "What if Moriarty was an anti-hero helping the poor and downtrodden fight the upper classes through murder?" I've heard the show picks up though once it actually involves their version of Sherlock Holmes. That looks to be next episode. The art is very Psycho-Pass, which is a plus for me.
I saw Kiki's Delivery Service in the theater this last weekend. That was pretty fun. Cute little movie. Looks like there's a few more anime movies coming up for Fathom events that I might check out. I've never seen Porco Rosso, Castle in the Sky, or Nausicaa so I might check one or two of those out.
