This is the exact reason why I won't watch the show haha

I'm already fucked up! I don't need more! But it seems to be really good.

Trying not to talk about this because I don't want to spoil anything or deter anyone away from the show, but I will say that while I enjoyed the show on the whole, the end didn't go the way I thought it would. I was ultimately alright with it and I'd have to refresh my memory on what exactly happened, but I do remember my feelings about it.

It's an episode that made me feel the impact of having watched since the very beginning, that it's been 10 years and it's been one hell of a journey. It's been a WILD ride, and as an anime-only fan it's hard to describe how it feels.

But one thing for sure, Sawano is a musical genius and has consistently killed it this entire series and this episode especially.

Is def still recommend iit, it's a mixed feeling of fucked up and triumphant joy? This anime is truly something special.

I was an “anime only”, but caved and read the manga during season four part one. You had more patience than me lol.
I binged the show in 2020 and it made a big positive impact in my mental health. it was a good distraction from the Covid shit and gave me a reason to wake up every morning.

Attack on Titan is the only shonen I’ve watched that wasn’t infuriatingly slow. I don’t want to watch dudes muttering at each other in a crater in between short bursts in action for 8 episodes straight. Every episode of AoT feels necessary. It was the only new anime I could tolerate for a while, until COVID hit and I was depressed in my basement watching 12 episodes of anime a day and found other genres that I love

I dunno I’m pretty drunk, excited to get home tomorrow and watch the new ep

I totally get this. I’m reading One Piece now, but there’s no way I could sit through 1000 episodes.

I feel like most shonen these days do the seasonal model and aren’t slow in that old school way, because they’re nearly verbatim adaptations of the manga. JJK, MHA, Fire Force, Demon Slayer

I had always considered giving in and reading like I've done before in other media, like Game of Thrones but I never actually did. I'd just rewatch the previous season before the new one premiered and it always got me back in the mood.

I completely agree with you with each episode feeling necessary. I don't think there's been a single episode of filler that I felt was pointless, and even the political stuff that some people complained about, I LOVED it as it provided context for the world and was full of lorebombs.

    Enjoy the episode!!

True. I guess I was thinking of the older shows. Yu yu kahusho, Bleach, Naruto, fairy tale, etc

The pacing of One Piece is intolerable because each ep is just a super stretched out version of a single ~20pg chapter, but it is currently in a weird place where, at least with episodes with major fight sequences, they have actually exponentially expanded the fight scenes from the manga to include tons of “filler” fighting that is nonetheless incredibly animated and super fun.

I have no idea how long they plan to sustain that, because it is for the sake of one of the most significant sections of the entire series, and probably takes a lot out of the animators, but it’s honestly probably the one time where the anime is a big improvement imo

So, once you hit around chapter 1000, consider switching over, at least for the remainder of that arc lmao

I’m towards the end of Dressrosa and I barely have time to read. Good to know though.

Oh man Dressrosa is the exact opposite lol, avoid that anime arc like the plague

Attack on Titan was really good. I was expecting them to end before they did, Part 2 is going to be pretty much all action.

i love yyh but it's definitely part of an era where series ran for 100+ episodes uninterrupted and its worth mentioning how that changed the calculus of what was adapted, hell more than half of the first volume of the series is omitted from the anime (though i think thats more a result of the early manga still figuring out what it was going to be).

the seasonal model does have long wait periods that are definitely frustrating but ultimately i think its led to higher quality adaptations overall so its hard to complain in that regard.

anyways, speaking of aot. i read some of it when it was first coming out and i thought it was an interesting concept but i remember not understanding the hype when the anime got so massive. i tried re-reading it multiple times but always thought it was good but wasnt totally engrossed. over the holidays i decided to give it another go, i am now on chapter 95 and it is truly phenomenal. better late than never i suppose.

Release My Mind, My Garden Grows

New hour of AoT was a great episode, left me wanting more and had me feeling the hype for the conclusion. I still hate how they're doing the release for this but it is what it is at this point. Animation looked better than ever in the action scenes too.

I figured out I watched AOT season 4 part 1 so I still need to watch part 2 and 3 but I feel like it’s been so long that I don’t know if I should just rewatch part 1 or just watch a quick catch up video on YouTube
