Also this isn't to say CGI is perfect and can do no wrong, Berserk 2016 rears its ugly head and says hello. But boy is Chainsaw Man not one of those examples lol
There are shows like Knights and Magic which kind of do it alright? I think anime has gotten way better at blending the two together, but sometimes it just feels off even if it is done well. (Full disclosure: haven't seen Chainsaw Dude so I have no opinion on that)
If they truly think that CGI is a good choice and it’s not to save time and money, that’s worse IMO. But agree to disagree. I think MAPPA can make a lot of great looking shit but I’m not fully in love with them. I think Attack on Titan looked way better before they took over
It’s weird yeah I watched the final episode for the season and idk but the big fight just didn’t hit for me compared to other ones from the season. still a good season tho
yeah I agree that if it's not to save money then it's just a bad choice that makes the show worse. it's ugly and stands out from everything else. I didn't watch that video but putting Arcane in the thumbnail shows a show that uses cgi well, it has a consistent artsyle and always looks fantastic. Chainsaw Man isn't quite as ugly as Berserk 2016 but it still looks kinda like assets from that dropping into an otherwise 2D show which makes the disconnect even worse for me. At least the Berserk anime I can just avoid entirely. Chainsaw Man just feels like a top tier show that fumbles the ball a bit in some of the most important moments because they chose to go with some ugly cgi. It's always going to be personal taste because some people think it looks good which is wild to me. At the end of the day I don't care all that much because I already have the manga but I feel like I'd be way more disappointed if I was an anime only watcher and it is a little disappointing when I think of how amazing it would be if it didn't have that blemish.
I liked this first season of CSM overall as an anime only person but it really felt like a half season storywise. My one real nitpick with the show is that despite it looking gorgeous in most scenes they really drag out some shots way longer than they need to and its extremely noticeable when you only have around 20 minutes per ep.
I swear I never heard the term “cour” before the new Bleach came out and now I’m hearing it everywhere. I don’t understand how it’s different than just “season”
I actually liked how CSM did it, the scenes that come to mind for me feel like much more naturalistic pauses and flows than any other anime, made it feel more movie-quality
Yeah they are way more just intro villains vs. Big Bads. And they really miss a beat where, while Denji is viewed as this crazy new anomaly, as soon as a second Denji shows up, nobody really makes a note of it
cour is 3 months run time. It’s just how they separate the broadcasts in Japan. A season can be one or multiple cours
I do appreciate it from an artistic point of view but the eps felt like they were over before they started sometimes. Tbh I doubt I'd have a problem if I just binged the season all at once which I'll probably go back and do once the dubbed version is all out.
One of the best things about CSM is when they showed slice of life things animated so well. You could learn how to tie a tie just by watching Makima tie Denji’s. Watching Ali’s morning routine was aesthetically pleasing too.
honestly ditch all the action and just make it a slice of life about Denji, Power and Aki trying to coexist in their apartment. I loved that stuff
Finished Life With An Ordinary Guy Who Reincarnated Into A Total Fantasy Knockout, and I really hope it gets a Season 2, because it was both incredibly bonkers and unexpectedly sweet. I don't know if this is a story about a potential future couple that's just in extreme denial or if the "curse" they're under is really twisting their perception, but I'm loving watching them strive to be better friends while bending over backwards to not cross over that line. Shout out to the "exhibitionist" elf, who really needed to show up more, because she is a riot. Same to the sleepy time night goddess. So great. Anyway, next I'm gonna watch The Misfit Of Demon King Academy.
I've been reading so much Isekai manga and manhwa that it's all starting to blend together. The amount of sexual violence they put in some of them is really nauseating and i just have to syop reading them. There was one I was really enjoying called "The Initial Skill Is Too Convenient and Life in the Otherworld Is Too Fun!" because it was just really sweet with how it handled family and its characters, but the last update was 9 months ago so I think the translator dropped it which stinks. Some of them are a bit of a nice twist on the genre like there's one where this person who was reincarnated has been to 100 different worlds and he's going back through the first world he was in to see what's new and it's being destroyed and he has to help save it after being rejected from the hero's party. If I find any good ones I'll share them.
I've seen the show and liked it! I haven't read the manga yet, but I might. I think it has a few spinoffs too. Have you read it? Is it a lot different than the anime?
I haven’t read it, just watched the show. I’m pretty sure it was a light novel series before the manga, so I’m not sure how that affects it.
