No Game No Life maybe? It reminds me of Food Wars in the way that it's a funny, exciting show about a guy who keeps beating everybody, ha. I also got into them at a similar time and adored them both.
Also One Punch Man is also similar in that regard. Idk, I'm trying to think of shows that have a lot of similar threads because I'm not sure what you like about Food Wars. Is it just that it's funny or do you like the competition aspect of it as well?
Some slippery slope shit here. haha. Neither of those stories had very good endings. Plus, Berserk is super rapey.
It's kind of hard to explain. I like that it does not have a fantastical setting, yet also isn't afraid to be absurd at times in order to be funnier (though no absurdity would be fine too). I also like that allthough it is silly, it has some very sincere moments, especially in the sub plot of that girl with the blue hair. It's not hectic, which is great, because I hate hectic shows. The competition I don't care much about to be honest (though I don't mind it either). I like the episodes where they are not having one of their battles more than the episodes with battles. Oh and the main character is awesome. That's about it, haha. Do your recommendations still stand?
I don't know, I was going for tone, I guess. Definitely wouldn't recommend Claymore over a lot of other things out there.
Probably not, ha. OPM I'd pretty hectic and absurd and NGNL is super fantastical in its setting. Most of the shows I watch are fantastical because it's one of the main reasons I watch anime. I like to see crazy shit.
I'm not opposed to a fantasy setting I guess, as long as the characters feel real, if that makes sense. Also really what I want is an anime that is like Dawson's Creek, haha.
I haven't seen Akira either, but I have it. I'll get around to it eventually... Princess Mononoke is Miyazaki's magnum opus, imo. Its theme of the relationship between human civilization and the natural world has only become more relevant since its release.
I think I just discovered a manga artist to rival my favourites. Sayman Dowman. I'm two-thirds through Nickelodeon, one of his one-shot collections, and it's brilliant. His absurd stories, fully of witty dialogue and dark humour, are strangely captivating. I'm also a fan of the simple, sharp, cartoonish art. Dowman's stories remind me of Monogatari, except they're weirder, darker, and leave more left unsaid.
Started watching Mushishi. It deserves every bit of acclaim and recognition its received. Honestly, I didn't expect it to live up to the hype. Halfway through season one, it's done that and more.
Used a filler guide, but binged and caught all the way up to the most recent episode of Naruto Shippuden, and watched Blood Prison, Path of Ninja, The Last, and Boruto. For years I refused to watch Naruto, but man was I wrong. And honestly SOME of the filler isn't that bad. I went back and watched certain ones that fleshed out and added some of the side characters. Shikamaru is my boy, favorite character easily. I basically loved Teams 8 and 10. Akamaru! I can't imagine being someone who's been watching from the start though, woof. I would be furious anytime a filler arc started.
91 Days is so goooood. What's everyone looking forward to this fall? I'm personally excited for March Comes In Like a Lion.
yeah march comes like a lion seems really good. im interested in dirfters because of its hellsing connection.
I'm looking forward to Haikyuu and March Comes in Like a Lion. I still haven't started any Summer 2016 shows, but I will once I finish Death Note. Amanchu, maybe 91 Days, maybe Sweetness & Lightning.
I finally completed my collection of Rurouni Kenshin manga (used is only $0.01 for each volume on Amazon, +$3.99 shipping), so I reread it over the past two weeks. Then I rewatched Samurai X: Trust & Betrayal and Reflection. They still make me cry. As much as I love Reflection, and even prefer it to the ending of the manga, I really wish they would someday faithfully adapt the Jinchuu Arc.
that's how i got most of my hxh collection, though the later volumes are a bit more recent so theyre slightly more expensive. great way of getting series that have been published here for a while
