I disagree, but I know you're not the only one who feels this way. Anime News Network's forum is having a fight right now between the ones who think it's great-looking CGI animation and the ones that think it's terrible. I mean, I do agree that there are some people who will never be happy with this kind of animation and are making some wild comparisons to Berserk, which is really agitating the people who think that's an incredibly inaccurate comparison. But I also think people will like what they like, and especially since this series is such a classic, I can understand why people might be a little precious about it. Having a reference like the original anime to make comparisons with doesn't help the situation any.
It looks great but yea unfortunately anime CG will always be divisive no matter how good it looks, especially adding in a classic nostalgia series being resurrected. Studio Orange is the best in the game at anime CG, Land of the Lustrous and Beastars are absolutely incredible but unfortunately some people will just never see that. Speaking of, if you wanna lessen the wait until Trigun next year go check out Land of the Lustrous and especially Beastars if you haven't yet!
You know what, I don't think it can be worse than the movie we got. So fuck it, I'm actually in for it
Came here just to talk about this and how I'm tentatively excited. I am curious what the Duff will do with this.
this doesn't need to exist, idc who makes it. I'm so sick of live-action adaptations that just cheapen anime as a medium. There is nothing that can be done live action that will add to the story to actually warrant this.
If it's anything like Netflix's live action Cowboy Bebop adaptation I'll probably love it and then it will get canceled because everyone else hates it. I think it's been adapted enough times, a more dufferent reinterpretation could be nice. People seemingly did not like the changes Bebop made, though.
On the one hand, I get it, cause I've thought this way before about live-action adaptations of other mediums. Not just anime, but video games are another example. There's not really a need to make everything live-action for the sake of making it live-action. It makes it seem like the original medium wasn't good enough. That said, I think it's unfair to apply that thinking to someone who genuinely wants to make their own interpretation of the original work. If the Duffers for example, really want to make their own spin on Death Note, then having them make their own anime would both be an immediate challenge to the original work, and also wouldn't be playing to their strengths. Honestly, I think Death Note is depressing as hell, so if someone wants to put their own spin on it, I'm pretty okay with that. If it sucks, it sucks.
Yu-Gi-Oh Manga Creator Kazuki Takahashi Passes Away at 60 I've never watched Yu-Gi-Oh, but I recognize what a big deal it was and still is, and this is tragic nevertheless.
I love Yugioh, got back into the card game in 2020 and used to obsessively watch the anime as a kid (and have been rewatching it throughout the year). Fuckin sucks, rip
I just watched the show because trading card games are way too much for me to follow. But the show was a pretty big part of my childhood so this news definitely a gut punch. Rest in peace.
Was way too obsessed with the cards as a kid. Had (and probably still have in my parents basement...) all 5 pieces of Exodia Though for video games I preferred the Dungeon Dice Monsters game and also the Falsebound Kingdom real-time strategy game
