Season 1 is a stronger season overall, but I had fun with season 2. The politics of it all were interesting, and I just really like Rimuru as a character despite how OP he seems at time.
I wanna jump back in here real fast to say that I'm enjoying the hell out of Love After World Domination. Checks a lot of boxes for me.
It's very good and extremely wholesome so far haha, it's also essentially super Sentai as an anime so that's all I needed to watch.
I finished Danganronpa: The Animation, which I've read a lot of people don't like because it glosses over a lot of events in order to condense a 30+ hour game into 13 episodes. I thought it did an admirable job, and honestly, a lot of what it glosses over are the optional Free Time events and a lot of the investigation. It still keeps all the essential story beats, and it's fun watching them be fully animated. I've now started Danganronpa 3, which ends the storyline threaded through Danganronpa 1, 2, and Another Episode, and is comprised of two series, an OVA, and a final episode. To be exact, there's Future Side, which follows the cast of the first game post-Danganronpa 2, and then there's Despair Side, which follows the cast of the second game as a prequel to the entire series. You're supposed to alternate shows as you watch them, so you start with Future Side Episode 1, then Despair Side Episode 1, until you finish both. Then there's the OVA, Super Danganronpa 2.5, and then there's Hope Side, a final episode that ties everything together and finishes off the series.
So I finished Danganronpa 3, and I thought it was a very beautiful end to the story told in the first three games. Watching Side:Despair play out was heartbreaking, seeing how the cast of Danganronpa 2 started as a tight-knit close group of well-meaning good people and how that got twisted and destroyed once Junko got involved and started executing her plans. Chiaki's death was especially difficult to watch. It was morbidly entertaining seeing Junko's rise to power and how her actions snowballed into the Tragedy. An absolutely unhinged portrayal, and it's interesting seeing her actually do all these terrible things vs. just being informed about them from the games. I liked the themes that both Side:Despair and Side:Future played with, about what hope is to different people and whether hope actually has any meaning without despair. I was very happy with how Side:Hope resolved everything. It sucks that Hajime and his crew had to take credit for what happened in Side:Future to prevent what the Future Foundation had built from crashing down, but it was a very noble sacrifice and brings their story arc full circle. Plus they presumably get to live happily ever after on Jabberwock Island, so it's not all bad. Seeing them work together in the end to save the cast of Danganronpa 1 was immensely satisfying. Just great seeing them put their abilities to good and creative use in order to actually do some good after all the tragic events they'd been through. Nagito causing a rockslide with his luck by throwing a pebble; Teruteru powering Akane with meat; everything Gundham does. All great, but I think my favorite is Mikan protecting Hiyoko with a giant syringe (and Hiyoko thanking Mikan for the first time in the series) and then saving Kyoko's life. Clumsy nurse is redeemed! Yay! Was very interested by the end for the Danganronpa 1 cast, with them all choosing to rebuild and reopen Hope's Peak Academy, with Makoto now as the headmaster with Kyoko. A fascinating choice, but it does kind of make an odd sort of sense. Very "rebuild what we've lost" sort of move. Transform where the despair began into a symbol of hope again. Also, I just like seeing Makoto and Kyoko together in the end. Those crazy kids deserve it. Glad I played Ultra Despair Girls because Episode 7 of Side:Future was pretty much a sequel/epilogue to that game, with in-jokes and references that I'd be lost on otherwise. I dunno what I love more, that Nagito out-crazied Monaca enough to convince her to give up becoming the new Junko or that she decided to instead become a NEET in space. Anyway, I thought it was great and completely satisfying. I've read on TV Tropes that there are portions of the fanbase that actually dislike this story and ending, but having read the reasons, I'm of the opinion that they're all insufferable edgelords, so fuck 'em. Now that I'm done watching Danganronpa, I still have My Love Story and the rest of Aggretsuko to watch, but I've decided to spin my RNG wheel and add four more to my list. (spins wheel) And the winners are: The Way Of The Househusband, Edens Zero, Tokyo Revengers, and My Senpai Is Annoying. Odd that they're all recent. Honestly, I'm not actually looking forward to the former. I was when it was announced, but after seeing several clips from the finished product, all I can think is that it's the worst direction for an anime I've ever seen. I probably shouldn't even still have it on my list, but I'll give it a shot and see what's what.
I didn’t know they were making a fruits basket movie. My theater is getting it at the end of the month.
he’s not lying about the househusband tho like it has its moments but they really cheaped out on what they could do
Oh, I don't care about that. Like I said, I've seen clips. I know what they've done. And they don't feel bad about it either. It was the "Danganronpa is terrible" part. Cause Vase needs to make sure I understand this, in case he didn't make it clear enough before.
danganropa interests me like you’ve said plus I know they’ve made a whole series out of it with anime and game and side stuff but dang the time commitment would be a lot
Depends how much you invest into it. Putting the game V3 aside, which is unrelated to the rest of the series, the only items I've taken in are the first three games and the Danganronpa 3 anime. All the other items out there, the novels, etc. are ancillary material that fleshes out the world but it's not important to understanding the main storyline. That being said, the games are 30+ hours, so I get it. Probably less depending on if you want to breeze through the dialogue and ignore any minigames and bonus content. And then Danganronpa 3 is 25 episodes in total. And also of course it would mean playing Ultra Despair Girls, which is unfortunate. You could just read a plot summary of that game though and avoid the headache if you wanted.
