I'm two episodes away from the end of Psycho-Pass, and it's been quite the ride. Been really enjoying the third season despite the minimal focus on the old cast members. The new cast is interesting enough to make up for it, and I'm anxious to see how this all ends. Once I'm done with Psycho-Pass, I still have Food Wars: The Fifth Plate, Trigun, and Vinland Saga to go through before I can spin the RNG again. I might knock the former out first since it's just 13 episodes.
I'm not a fan of most shonen anime, hate the filler, the constant "well actually I learned this new attack that's stronger than the last new absurd attack I learned" kinda shit...but I'm kind of interested in Demon Slayer and it seems like the seasons are relatively short. Is it more on the Attack on Titan side, or is it some Naruto/Bleach/MHA shit?
Demon Slayer doesn't really have any filler so far and there's not really any ass pull special moves. The fights are really well done.
It definitely has plenty of ass-pulls in terms of characters constantly going from “I’m on my very last leg, can’t go on…” to “Sike I found a second wind and now I’m actually even a bit stronger now” lol
Yeah, Demon Slayer definitely has some moments where Tanjiro somehow manages to beat such overwhelming odds but it’s still a thrilling ride. I think Jujutsu Kaisen only has one season so far but definitely doesn’t rely on that as far as I remember, however the MC is super powerful but they explain why literally in the first episode lol
I feel like there’s been a few moments where tanjiro did super hype shit only for the enemy to be like meh and he got knocked out so that was pretty nice
I never really feel like it's out of nowhere though, it's usually fighting at the edge of their capabilities and pushing through it, I can't recall a situation where they've just been totally fine out of nowhere, they're still progressively getting worse off as the fight goes on, it's just an anime fight where shit's dragged out and exaggerated. They're all usually pretty fucked up after a battle too. This latest season has been some of my favourite Shonen anime in a while although I do usually switch to the manga for most of these kinds of things so I haven't kept up with a lot.
Don't know if anyone here will care about this, but I learned something today about Princess Connect Re:Dive's anime adaptation that I thought was very interesting. I had always assumed that the anime was simply adapting the game's storyline, albeit cutting out and altering several events for the sake of expediency and entertainment value. It never occurred to me what is actually going on. The first thing that must be understood is that the game Princess Connect Re:Dive's storyline begins after the bad ending of the previous game, Princess Connect. The hero loses to the villain, and so the timeline gets reset so that they can try a second time, albeit at the cost of the hero's memories. In the game Re:Dive, apparently at the end of Part 1's storyline, the hero loses again, and has the option again to reset the timeline or continue on as things are. It's not officially confirmed, but similarities between the scenes at that plot point and scenes shown in flashback form in the anime point to this being the truth: the anime is different because it is actually the result of the hero resetting the timeline a second time. So basically at the end of Part 1 of the game, the hero either chooses to reset the timeline, which results in the anime plot, or chooses to soldier on, which results in the game's Part 2. A pretty interesting mind screw that I should have honestly suspected, but never considered.
It's been announced today that Classroom Of The Elite is getting a Season 2. I've never watched it, although it's on my RNG list so it'll wind up in my feed sooner or later. The reason I'm posting this is more because it's interesting to see these random series that everyone thought was done get new season announcements. I've also read comments indicating a general feeling that series are getting new seasons that ten years ago, absolutely wouldn't have, and with more regularity. It's an exciting time.
I started Black Clover. This has every trope of a Shonen and the dialogue is cringe. It’s garbage so far, but…also addicting. It’s dumb popcorn entertainment. Perfect to relax to.
It’s like Boruto where there is soooo much boring bullshit and filler, but then every once in a while there’s an intense, incredibly well-made fight scene that makes it all worth it. I think the first one to happen isn’t until like episode 33 or something lol
I never got into Naruto cause I don’t have that much time lol. But I get what you mean. The animation is great so far.
Started watching Code Geass and it’s always funny when a series makes race a big factor but doesn’t do anything to notably differentiate the characters artistically. Like yeah I guess this or that guy has a Japanese name but they look no different from all the Anglos lol
So far the best character in Code Geass is the mad scientist who couldn’t give a shit about any of the political conflict, he just wants to watch his fancy new OP mech tear shit apart
Got into Laid-Back Camp recently, and it is just the most charming little warm blanket of a manga. Just some girls who really love camping.
