Komi Can't Communicate is on Netflix, Penguindrum is on HIDIVE, which used to be part of VRV but is now a standalone service
I should rewatch Penguindrum. I remember I was in Afghanistan watching it in my room when the "incoming" sirens started blaring. Some guys ran to my bunk for us to find cover. I answered the door bawling my eyes out. I had to hide my feels and get the hell out of there lol.
I’m on episode 23 right now and yeah they just threw everything at you and I’m still trying to process it all. I might need a timeline reference just in case. lol.
Just accept that the final two episodes are going to be weird and confusing, then watch End of Evangelion which is also weird and confusing, but fantastic.
i will reserve my end of eva takes for the moment but i just want to preface them with this post, where i say that it is indeed very good
there’s stuff from the earlier episodes they haven’t even explained yet and I’m like they really just throwing it all at me.
yeah this isn't your fault. there are directors cuts of, i want to say 21 through 24, that depending on where you're watching them (i assume netflix) were specifically redone to explain a LOT of the things that lead into 25/26/EoE, because the origianl tv airing just...didn't bother
It helps to know that so much of the weird religious connections and implications are only included because it looks cool, not because there’s some deep symbolism to them. In that sense it actually is quite similar to Lynch lol
Update. So I finished Psycho-Pass Seasons 1 and 2. Season 1 was a slow burner, but the cast and the plot really took off for me in the back half. I felt really bad that Tomomi and Shusei bite it, as they seemed like really fun characters. Also, the show very much borrows from Minority Report and Judge Dredd in copious amounts, but the ending had an inevitability that reminded me of Seven. I'm not sure why I still expected a happy ending even as I realized there was no possible happy ending route. I do love the callback in the final scene to the way the show began. Full circle. Season 2 was fun and interesting, but also kind of felt like a retread of Season 1 in a lot of respects. I do love the way Mika found out about what Sibyl really is. Even though I hated her attitude throughout the season, I felt horrible for her in Episode 9. It's like she's smiling and clapping, but what she's really saying is OH MY GOD SYBIL IS SO GREAT AND AWESOME HOW BRILLIANT TRULY A MARVEL CAN I GO HOME NOW I NEED TO BASH MY HEAD INTO THE WALL A FEW DOZEN TIMES DON'T WORRY I'M TOTALLY FINE Anyway, I'm taking a break from Psycho-Pass to watch Plunderer, which I'm not sure how I feel about right now but I'm leaning toward entertained. It's certainly less dark than Psycho-Pass, so that earns points right now in my book.
I dunno, I enjoy a bunch of trashy anime. I watched the cooking episode and I thought it was hilarious but I see Reddit hates it for reasons. I dunno, it amused me. And now they've had a drinking contest. And... oh. Hey, you know that moment when you thought you were watching a simple fantasy anime and then a portal opens up and a fucking ATTACK HELICOPTER comes out?
I started watching Plunderer as a palate cleanser from darkness. (watches episode 9) "Hello darkness, my old friend..."
i just finished watching Hunter x Hunter (at least everything that's on Netflix) and i am a wreck i need to see where this goes from there, i gotta start buying the manga i also need to hop back into Seven Deadly Sins, thats another series i've been neglecting
I'm 11 episodes into Plunderer and it's veering hard into "what the hell is happening" territory. When it's trashy, it's trashy, and the animation is all over the place but I'm intrigued by the direction the revelations are going.
