It’s alright, a bit overhyped though. They throw a lot of characters at you, so pay attention.

The current My Hero Academia arc in the anime is incredibly problematic. Endeavor emotionally and physically abused his wife and now he’s getting a redemption arc…? I don’t care that he’s changed now. She’s been in the mental hospital for TEN YEARS.

Isn’t the whole arc about how he can’t simply say sorry and decide to change, but actually has to make amends and even then accept the fact that making amends very likely means allowing his family to live peacefully away from him. Like the thing you said is basically also what his other son said

Endeavor just said that at the end of the episode. I didn’t realize there was a post credits scene haha. I get it. I just don’t feel like the show should spend so much time focusing on an abuser and getting the viewer to empathize him.

I actually think it's done pretty well and shows how people are capable of change and also shouldn't be forgiven for their actions. Everyone has to make their own decisions as to how to respond to someone else's actions. I personally, if I were in his son's shoes, could never forgive him, but as a person I do understand and recognize that he's sincerely trying to be a better person and that he's understanding more and more how he has to own up to all the bad he's done and move forward, regardless of whether or not that's with his family.

It's a very complicated thing. As someone with severe mental health problems I would be absolutely mortified if someone who abused me was being idolized by the public. I think the exploration of the topic is interesting because it allows for conversations like this.

Fair enough. That’s a good perspective/take on it.

The way I view the current MHA is basically what @Vase Full Of Rocks said. It’s tackling a difficult dynamic in human behavior and relationships. In my eyes, it’s essentially an arc about how it’s important to look forward and work on changing yourself for the better. But it comes with the caveat that just because you change doesn’t mean that the people you’ve wronged will forgive you. You get a second chance, but it’s more like having to hit a reset button as opposed to repairing what you already had. Endeavor is working hard to become a force for positivity, but he has to accept his family and others won’t view him that way no matter how good of a person he becomes.

I don't know if it's been posted here but they confirmed that the original English voice actors are returning for Evangelion 3.0+1.0 (which is coming out on Prime on Friday). They won't be using the recent Netflix cast.

I watch it subbed so I have no opinion but people seem pretty hyped about that.

I was hoping they'd put the other movies up before Friday, I need to rewatch 3.33 before the final movie.

Rurouni Kenshin (anime) was only good up until it stopped following the manga (which was still ongoing at the time), leaving one final arc remaining. The first three live action films are a nice summary/reimagining of the parts of the manga the anime had covered, without the shounen fluff of calling out and meticulously describing abilities etc. Shin Kyoto Hen (OVA) was flashy but pretty unnecessary. The Final (fourth live action movie) is a better adaptation of the Jinchuu arc than Reflection (OVA), but Trust & Betrayal (OVA) is a better adaptation of the Reminiscence chapters than The Beginning (fifth live action movie). But I do think Reflection serves as a better ending to the series. As much as I enjoyed the live action films' acting and fight scenes, I think the anime (sans filler) and the Trust & Betrayal/Reflection OVAs are the best way to experience the story; the live action films are better suited for people already familiar with the story rather than those who are new to the series. However, both adaptations of the Jinchuu arc leave out the most shocking part in which in order to break Kenshin, Enishi fakes Kaoru's death, making it the one arc in the anime that absolutely needs to be read.

This series means a lot to me, it's what got me into anime, it's the only manga that I own.

New Bleach manga seems cool. Hopefully it ends up being more than a one shot. Seems like they are just fighting angels lol

yeah definitely feels like it's setting stuff up more than trying to be a one shot.

I’m like halfway through the first season of stardust crusaders and idk I’m just feeling indifferent about this season compared to the first two parts

yeah I had the same issue, I still think the first half of Stardust Crusaders is my least favourite stuff from the first six parts but it does get better, especially in the second season. the pay off is worth it imo.

Wish they added the other Rebuild movies like a week earlier so I could rewatch them before the premiere.

Yeah, I'm a little confused about that. I have them all on blu ray, but its too much work lol. They do give you an "earlier in Evangelion" at the top tho.

I’m firing up 3.33 now because I barely remember it (and I’ve only seen the original 3.0) and then I’ll go on to the final

Its been years since ive seen 3.33 let alone the other ones and I watched them through various torrents haha. So I definitely wanted to watch them all again back to back to back. Oh well, watched 1.11 last night and will do the rest throughout the weekend. Should watch 3.0 + 1.0 Sunday night.
