man Hollow Mind is still the best episode of The Owl House for sure. I love just throwing it on and freaking myself out a bit, that shit is so intense
Recently got my son into Digimon (one of my absolute favorite shows as a kid and I knew he’d love it) and he’s already started up the 02 series. For Valentines Day each kid in the class has to design their own Valentines box for cards. He excitedly said he wanted his box design to be T.K.’s Digivice. My wife and I were like “okay, sure, knock yourself out,” figuring, you know, he’d do his best for a seven year old. Nah, my kid understood the assignment.
big moment in my incredibly boring and anemic social life: I got a friend into The Owl House! like just did what a normal human being does and recommended it based on his interests, he got through it in about 3 days and really enjoyed, and we had some awesome discussions about all the great shit in that show I don't have much of a track record with getting people to try things I love, or uhh talking to people, so this was a very nice change
Vinland Saga should be dropped for us to binge, each episode is too short and not enough happens to be satisfied with it week to week. plus it’s on Netflix now and I think people would expect it to be out all at once, I’m sure it’s hurting views
I've done a little cultural exchange with the friend I mentioned up above so I'm watching one of his favourite shows since he did one of mine. in other words I'm finally watching Samurai Champloo and it absolutely rules, I took way too long to get around to it and yes I know there's an anime thread but I'm too lazy to retype all this context over there, I've also seen about 3 anime in my life and that thread is intimidating
My favorite one is Spider-Man: Into the Spider-verse(2018) -This movie had blown me away not only in comic book animation style but in the story it gave. It’s a movie that respected the original source of it’s material and it is a huge tribute to the amazing work of Stan Lee and Steve Ditko.
the Legend of Vox Machina show is actually really great. even I was sceptical you could make a good Critical Role show and I'm a huge DND nerd. they nailed it honestly
I don’t watch a lot of animated shows that aren’t anime. But my absolute favorites that I can recommend to anyone are Gravity Falls Over the Garden Wall Avatar: the Last Airbender Other good ones I finished or am caught up on: Lower Decks Rebels Clone Wars Legend of Kora Invincible Vox Machina there’s some on HBO Max I want to go through soon.
Went through commentary for Infinity Train S1, was a good time. Now going through animatics and other special features. I remember when this was first taken off Max, the dvds were on Ebay for ridiculous prices--it's gone back to normal now if you still want 'em.
just watched The Owl House finale, I had... issues with it but under the circumstances still a really solid ending. will never not be immensely frustrated by the way everything went down with it, and equally impressed by how gracefully and well the show staff handled it
Are we getting a season 2 of arcane? Because that was one of the best animated seasons I've ever seen.
Owl House finale was perfect. It'll always sting that it wasn't a full season, but they did the best with the time they had left and holy forking shirt balls it was amazing The ending solidified how I feel that Owl House and Amphibia are sort of like companion pieces in the same way that Steven Universe was to Adventure Time with how they aired at around the same time and shared so many parallels
there are definitely some straight up identical plot points between TOH and Amphibia's respective finales lol, especially in terms of what happens to the protagonists. my gut feeling so far is that Amphibia's ending was a little better, because it was impressively ruthless emotionally and left me with a message that I think about a lot to this day as much as I loved The Owl House and will miss it, it really did not have time to impart a message or really do anything except have a big awesome fight. which is still dope obviously, but there's so many character moments that should have happened in the final season that just didn't. it's wild that in an hourlong finale the Hexside Squad barely got anything to do, Luz and Amity said one line to each other, the real most powerful character in the show (Hooty) didn't get a single line etc. so much good stuff Disney robbed us of
I was literally just wondering what Brendon Small has been up to and then this got announced! Dethklok Returns With “Metalocalypse” Feature Film, Soundtrack, and “Dethalbum IV”!
Apparently Star Wars Visions is getting A Volume Two? The first batch of episodes was pretty hit or miss but the good ones were damn good, and I watched most if not all of them twice just to experience both Japanese and English dub. The studio trigger one with the twins is honestly one of the coolest things I've ever seen
