and here I thought giving owl house the whole "oh instead of of a full final season you just get a couple of specials" was bad... a show like this can't cost *that* much to produce... right? fucking hell man ending to season 2 was so devastating and now we're not even getting a conclusion?
I just feel bad for the people working on these shows only to have them canceled halfway through production, and for the people on other shows seeing this happen wondering if their show might be next
I have waited far too long in my life to watch Avatar: The Last Airbender lmao. just got to the Zuko Alone episode last night and I'm kicking myself that I could have had this show most of my life but didn't goddamn fantastic stuff
spoilers! also ATLA is so good. has so much heart without being corny at all. I can see its influence on a massive swath of shows I've adored all my life, especially Gravity Falls. just beautiful beautiful stuff
man Tales of Ba Sing Se is straight up one of the best episodes of any animated show I've seen. s2 of ATLA is absurdly good
totally forgot it was new Owl House day today, it's up on YouTube! tossing up whether to watch it now on my phone or wait until tomorrow to throw it on the big screen. tough decisions
Owl House was really great, probably the most Gravity Falls this show's ever been. I don't think it's quite as good as Thanks to Them though, high bar only one more episode because Disney sucks shit, I am sad
thinking more about For the Future now I've had time to digest it a bit, so I am going to rant about it a lot: - first of all, it's obviously great. love this show, the animation style, the voice cast and the world it's created so much, it's gonna leave a big hole when it ends for sure. I'm keeping two fingers crossed that there's talk of some kind of spinoff at least beginning considering the insane numbers both episodes have been doing and all the unresolved plot points left from the cancellation (the Bat Queen backstory and the Titan Trappers come to mind) - very thankful I managed to dodge spoilers on it for two weeks, some very close calls on reddit notwithstanding, because goddamn there was a lot to spoil lmao. between Luz getting her Palisman, Hunter and Willow doing the thing (!!!), all the Plot with King and Eda, some Collector backstory... out of all the episodes to leak early this was probably the worst candidate haha - but on the more reserved side, it's the first time in the whole show I've actually felt like there's too much Plot. I originally expected Thanks to Them to have this pitfall and was honestly astounded how well it paced the narrative reveals in with beautiful character moments for basically everyone and the show's classic horror-comedy mix; honestly a top 3 episode of The Owl House easily imo. FtF admittedly had an impossible job following that up, and it's not something I blame on the creative team in any way - but it does feel like 3-4 episodes smashed together because plot needed to happen before the finale - it's still hard not to be infuriated by Disney being On Their Bullshit doing one of their best ever shows so dirty. and I will definitely always be imagining a full season 3 which had time for full individual episodes at Hexside, the Collector's palace, the big character moments etc. on the other hand, that timeline wouldn't have Thanks to Them, and the fact that these specials are as goddamn good as they are is a true testament to the power of real creativity and quality even when dumbass corporate pencil pusher bullshit tries to wipe it out
somehow ended up rewatching She-Ra, agai. just finished S4. Kinda just in the background, tho. Comfort show for suuuure
