I really wanna play this game more, but I can't really get WiFi to extend to the room I'm staying in where I'm at. You can't really play it without WiFi right? I only got a few days into playing so I feel like I'm missing out on a bunch of stuff if it's one of those games that you have to play daily to grow your town.

 

You only need WiFi to visit other people’s islands and that’s not an essential part of the game. You can still play it! And when you want to go to someone’s island, can you move closer to the router to pick up a better signal? Usually people don’t visit for longer than like 20 minutes and if you’re there to pick something up, that’s a 5 minute WiFi usage time max

 

I guess I don't feel embarrassed saying this since I already posted about it in the Mental Health thread, but I actually brought myself to rehab to try to fix my drinking problem. The WiFi only extends to the room I'm in if I'm in the bathroom so I guess I'll go that route. I don't really wanna bring my Switch out to common areas, because I'm not even sure if I'm allowed to have it here lol. Thanks for the advice, I'll get back on it tonight. Really just been catching up on Pokemon Shield in the meantime. But I have like 10 games and haven't beaten any of them, so I have plenty of stuff to occupy my time, just don't wanna miss out on Animal Crossing stuff since it seems like it's a bit more limited and a need to play daily type of game.

most of the daily stuff in AC you don’t really need any WiFi whatsoever so don’t let that stop you from playing!

Going on top of what Alina said, the main purpose of visiting others is to get your non-native fruit and new items and DIYs. The fruit unfortunately you have to play online to get all of it but you can get DIYs from your villagers three times a day in addition to the bottle that washes up on the beach every day. You can also find random items not in your shop by shaking trees, I think you can get two a day from your own island and one from every nook mikes ticket island you visit. Those don’t require WiFi to travel to either!

There is definitely a lot you can do without internet so don’t let that deter you from playing

 

If you're using your phone to post on Chorus, you could also activate your mobile hotspot and connect your Switch to that.
