Love this band

 

adore like 70% of their output - hopefully this one works out for me bc when they hit they hit hard

 

I like all the "main" albums from MPP til now, never was able to get into their older stuff though and solo stuff is very hit and miss

 

Definitely intrigued. Got a lot of time for this band. Freaked out by it being nearly 6 years since Painting With

 

Wow, really? Ok yeah that's crazy

 

Painting With never clicked, Centipede was cool as is Strawberry

MPP is amazing as is Fall Be Kind, Sung Tongs, Spirit & Here comes the indian

first two Pandas & Aveys are awesome

Feels is an absolute masterpiece & there is nothing else like it out there - an absolute monument & true fucking Magic put to tape

Announced. “Prester John” is the lead single. It’s probably my favorite Animal Collective single since MPP. It’s really good, a very pretty AnCo song.

their 4 album run of Sung Tongs>>Feels>>Strawberry Jam>>MPP was pretty unparalleled in the aughts.

I liked some songs of CHz, but didn’t care for Painting With at all though.

if you stuff like spirit of the beehive go listen to feels >> strawberry jams ASAP.

Its been stated but their 4 album run of Sung Tongs>>Feels>>Strawberry Jam>>MPP is one of the greatest album runs ever done, but feels or strawberry jam are defiantly the perfect starting points IMO.

 

id actually add Fall Be Kind EP to their legendary run, cause What would i want? Sky will forever be there best song.

 

fireworks is one of my favorite songs of all time

 

as much as I adore Feels & I think it’s peak music I think mpp is the easiest entry point & also a masterpiece

 

fall be kind yet another masterpiece

the early stuff has some diehards, but it’s a little too abstract for me, they really settle into the perfect balance of freak folk and pop starting with Sung Tongs imo. I’d also include Fall Be Kind in that run

there are people who would say Centipede Hz, Ark and Prospect Hummer would all be included in that insane run as well, but your mileage may vary.

 

only 1 of these songs was not played on that tour, so chances are you've heard most of these before

 

So I never really listened to anything before Strawberry Jam because my first listen from them was MPP and I never really could get into Strawberry. But today I listened to Feels for the first time and it's pretty good! Loses me a bit in the second half, but definitely better than I expected
