what the heck?! it quoted @manoverboard365 , but left out the words and my reply! EM is corny, but i might still like it. i forget now. lol and it quoted but didn't tag @DefeatTheLow
really digging these right now Wolfpack (awesome rock track! \m/ ) Do it for Me Now Hallucinations Everythings Magic-yea, i like it now. more Blink stuff going on to a lesser degree, Epic Holiday (a bit of Blink nostalgia here too!) Anxiety "cuz it fu-ucks with my mind" lol All That We Are (it's really good, but drawn out.)
that's the singular track on LOVE Part Two I won't passionately defend lol I like that album quite a lot but "the ice is very cold, the streetlight's really old", cmon Tom
It’s a line that describes the woman he’s singing about doing drugs (ice is a term for meth) in her home, in a rundown part of town... while her “child is alone” in the next room... implying irresponsibility and neglect, just to escape her troubles. You could maybe argue it sounds like a lazy attempt at rhyming or something, but given the further context and meaning with the rest of the verse, I think it’s quite poignant.
My five favorite LOVE-era songs: Shove The Moon-Atomic Young London One Last Thing The Revelator Damn, the production on those albums are probably my favorite Tom-related productions since TOYPAJ/BCR haha. Critter killed it. Also, Just noticed that Tom gets the credit as producer on all the albums lol.
Ok, so I have almost caught up on all the AVA music. Tonight was The Dream Walker. Prepare for brutal honesty. Ha! Nah, it's not that bad. So, it starts out with the banger, Teenagers and Rituals. Love that one and the line, "light that shit up like the fourth of July". :P Paralyzed is not bad. Is it just the song title that's similar to The Used's song, or do they sound similar too? (I got The Used vibes later in the album too). Ok, I've pretty much always loved Wolfpack. Now then, Tunnels is just ok, Mercenaries, Disease, and maybe even Tremors, I could not wait until the track switched. Not necessarily bad songs, just wasn't my thing. Kiss with a Spell is kinda growing on me. Oh, did I mention I could notice the NIN influences?? Anomaly is not really a favorite, but I think Tom's voice sounds gorgeous here! The talent he does have is truly showcased here and he could sing me to sleep any night. ;) And finally, while not my most favorite, definitely the hook I needed to peak my interest in this band, as it was the first AVA song I ever heard. It's just such a fun dance like song! (What other song does this remind me of?? Something, but I also think this was the one that has that similar fun vibe as The Used's new "Lighthouse"). Anyway, so there ya have it! Sorry if there is already a special thread for this album. I forgot to check first. :P
I enjoy reading your posts of you going through the blink guys’ Discography haha. Have you listened to +44 (Mark and Travis) or Box Car Racer (Tom and Travis) projects yet?
Thanks!! :D I've heard a bit of both. Not sure if you remember or if I even said it here yet, but I did know "I Feel So" back in 2002 (whenever it first released), and LOVE it! I also like the other single, but forget the name. Heh! I've also heard the single from the +44 album and a few on there. I like it all, but really liked the second track, um...oh, I DID remember correctly! :D Baby Come On. I think it would have been great if both of these groups made more music, but I understand the conflict of interest. Sigh! So damn sad! :/ But, we get new Blink (which I'll eventually get to) and AVA. :D
So, meant to share this earlier, but I didn't exactly get a lot of sleep last night/had too much screentime yesterday so my brain was a little fried...might still be too lol So, the irony is, I wasn't like so excited about Tunnels, but guess what my morning earworm of the day is (was)?? Lol Yea, so I'm kinda vibing on that right now. :P But since I first thought that, my I-Empire (and Dude Ranch) albums came in the mail today. Yay!!! :D
Tunnels is a unique song. Tom wrote it about his father passing away I believe. With that in mind I feel like it means a good deal to him which makes me respect it.
"Tunnels" is one of my favourite AVA songs haha the "dream of it" gospel chant thing gets me crazy emotional every time
Seeing them back in September (Jesus Christ it’s almost been a year) I got emotional during “Heaven”. They sounded so good. Tom was actually in key and hit those high notes. He went for it and got it.
I see that Matt is recording with them right now. Is he an official member / do you think he will be? He’s easily one of my favorite bass players as a fellow bassist. Stoked to hear his playing on the album.
my second concert ever was TBS and AVA in 2006. Always a big Rubano fan. Fell out of love with AVA in the last 5-7 years but the addition of Matt (and David again) has pulled me back in a little. I just need to be able to handle Tom.
About Tunnels- yea, knowing the story behind it does change things. I also love Heaven so much! It was my first favorite AVA song and still is among the top faves. So cool TBS AND AVA!!! And that era, i mean, i could very much see an Adam influence on Tom. So adore that! Actually that segues nicely into my share of the day. But first, what do you mean "be able to handle Tom"? ---------- Ok, so my share. Saw this come up in my suggestions yesterday and watched it this morning. This was beautifully enlightening! But, because it's a documentary, I mean,I just have skeptiscm about Tom's intentions. Like was all of that genuine? I'd like to believe so. And I was really pulled in and love him so much! But, you know, like, does he really mean it was a joke got out of hand or does he really believe all of this stuff and was it the drugs making him a bit cocky or is something going on with his mental wellbeing or am I just being a total ass myself for questioning these things? I just can't neglect the way things dissolved with him and Mark and Travis, especially after reading and seeing some of the things Mark has said and how he behaved with Tom sometimes in those later years. I'm sure it sucked for all of them, but was Tom still in the wrong, or were the drugs or a mental issue to blame? Curious on all y'all's thoughts. Btw, i think this era of Tom is just precious!
