Tom DeLonge on How Angels & Airwaves Connects With To the Stars Academy Short podcast if anyone wants to listen.
Kinda crazy that Kiss and Tell isn't a single. Sounds like it might make the album though? Would be weird if it didn't. It's one of his best songs this decade. Good interview though. Interesting stuff about his song writing process these days.
Am I the only one that's not like SUPER stoked on Kiss and Tell? Don't get me wrong, it's good, I like it... but it's pretty straight-forward for Tom, I feel... It's almost like people were all, "woah, Tom brought back the big distorted 'punk' riff," and everyone freaked out like it was the greatest thing ever. Like in that regard, Mercenaries from TDW was 10x the song Kiss and Tell is for me... even still.
I like kiss and tell a lot. Just cool Tom (our hero) can still make music I care about. Standards have been low though, might add to it.
I don't remember anyone saying it was the best song ever but as far as AVA songs go it's pretty good. The chorus is pretty underwhelming but the riff and verse melody are cool even if it's about 10 AVA songs rehashed at once.
“Kiss and Tell” didn’t really do much for me. “Mercenaries” and “Endless Summer” (minus the random long ass intro) are probably my 2 fav Tom songs from the last couple years though.
Endless Summer is a great song! It would be a perfect song if it wasn't for that one line, written by 39-year-old Thomas Matthew DeLonge, about fondling a 16-year-old's tits, lmao.
Bill Burr mentioned AvA on his podcast yesterday. Talked about how he downloaded The Dream Walker five years ago and he listened once, but he went back to it and thinks they’re unbelievable. The Disease is his favorite song. I thought it was neat.
I listen to him constantly and this is the time I take a break from him and he goes and does this?! Love Burr, man.. Dude is a good drummer and has a good ear for music.
"The Disease" is a great choice. the harmonies in that chorus, man. someone get Tom to write some more Beach Boys-type shit imo
He didn’t say the album name. He just said the year it came out. Mentioned the song and Tom. I just didn’t expect him to like this band. Completely caught me off guard.
