Yup, I just bought this. It's pretty fucking sweet. EDMPL Knit Blanket Cobalt They have a ton of awesome merch. They really stepped up their game.
I always knew I preferred Tom to Mark in Blink but it's become apparent just how much when I only liked the new Blink songs that Matt takes charge of. That new AVA single is better than everything on the last Blink album outside of Darkside.
I loved Nine but Mark's voice gets kind of grating to me after a while, I definitely like Tom and now Matt songs more for the most part. Still love Mark though obviously
I loved Nine but I honestly would not be surprised if I love the upcoming AVA album more when it comes out, based on the 2 songs released so far.
Ya, I'm very excited to see hear how this album turns out. I really like the new wave-ish/post-punk vibes the two new ones have.
Haven't watched this in such a long time... 3:30 for about the next minute and a half sounds like Tom is working out an EARLY idea for Young London, all the way back in '05 time frame... pretty wild! Also... 32:45
Kind of interesting to hear the ideation of the album title at the very beginning of the video. Haven't watched this in forever.
I remember a few months ago Tom said the new album would probably drop in January. Am I misremembering?
We would have had 3 announcement annoucnements of the album announcement if that was the case. Would not be surprised if it was a summer release. Aren’t they not even finished with filming of the album?
I wanna say at one point he said it was delayed until summer. But even if he said that or not, this thing ain't gonna be out for a while. Nobody loves to hype and drag out the release of music like him, so IF a full length album ever comes I'm not expecting it until end of summer the earliest.
I was still holding onto that tiny sliver of hope that it’d somehow be an early 2020 release but I knew that wasn’t realistic.
With blink getting their deserved shit right now, perhaps this is a perfect time for a tom announcement?
Was literally thinking yesterday how much I wish it was at College St. instead (my now favorite CT venue) that being said, I don't hate Toad's but not my favorite. You have a particularly bad time there?
Yeah I saw Alien Ant Farm there in 2001 on my 18th birthday (wasn't my choice). Got kicked right in the back of the head by a crowd surfer and had another crowd surfer get thrown on top of me so that was fun, it just wasn't a good night for me. I personally just don't like club shows unless the crowd is there just to actually watch the band and not have mosh pits/crowd surfing etc. I really takes away from my enjoyment of the shows because I feel like I'm paying more attention to what's going on around me instead of watching the stage. Plus I just really don't like the area Toad's is in and parking can be a nightmare. With that being said one of my favorite concerts was seeing NFG at the Webster right after Catalyst dropped and seeing AVA at the Oakdale in 2010(?) but I was towards the back/side of the venues but still super close and no one was around me so it was great.
Now that AVA is on a label again, I'm gonna be optimistic and think the album won't get pushed back a million times. Keeping my fingers crossed for a March release.
I hear that, although I do like the area Toads is in. Yale campus is right there, there's good food (especially pizza) & coffee and when I was younger the Urban Outfitters was fun haha. I always tell myself I'm just gonna chill in the back but end up trying to get as close as possible especially if it's Tom. Toad's is similar to Paradise in Boston where I last saw AVA in that it's kind of a sideways venue, people fill out to the sides instead of the back and there's pillars in the way haha. Two of my favorite Toad's shows were seeing Moving Mountains open for Thursday & Conor Oberst & The Mystic Valley Band there.
That AVA Oakdale show was great. Also saw TBS at the Oakdale, but haven't been back since. Good venue. Toad's isn't my favorite but have heard good things about the College St. venue.
