Watched it 2 times. Love the video. 1000 times better than the tone def rebel girl one. It's obviously not perfect but the band stuff is top notch. Wanted more playfulness from the "scenes" with the girl ala that everything's magic alt video where Tom is a complete goofball but otherwise it works. The WTF part made me LOL watching it at work. Anyone know the girl? Total babe.
it was kinda similar to the "Always" video, but yeah, he was just kinda... there... and it was awkward.
"Angels and Airwaves is a grandiose futuristic art project crafting sonic landscapes based on esoteric philosophies that will endeavour to change the world via the synergistic combination of multiple companies revealing mysteries beyond human comprehension regarding space, the universe and the ethereal realm." "So what do you want the video to be?" "How about a really hot woman crawls over me half naked?"
I'll have to watch again. That's like the only justification for that but I dunno that I saw that AT ALL. I am with your original post - no clue what's going on. She wants him and he's busy. Then he wants her and she's busy, I guess?
So, Tom and the girl don’t have enough time for each other and in the end she pulls the plug... literally. Really enjoyed this video, MUCH more than the last lol... The band shots are badass!
sounds to me like "Loreen" is a girl he cheated on his wife with, possibly a business partner or assistant, and they had to keep it under wraps but really struggled to do so. eventually it all blew up, both women were hurt but Loreen was obviously more pissed than anything. that's what i got from that weird video at least
Yeah the vibe I got was the chick was just a metaphor for his wife but whenever they tried to show each other something they werent in the mood or didnt have time and it never worked out.
the only thing that's been made public was the divorce but i always interpreted the song as him telling his lover not to expose their secret relationship. that's the definition of the expression "kiss and tell", isn't it? he also talks about burying any evidence, never saying never, his heart being tired, him playing with fire and watching the bomb he's made go off... it's hard not to think of cheating with those kinds of metaphors.
it's my own interpretation of the lyrics. it can be about anything you want until the artist themselves break it down on genius.com. half joking, by the way.
Cool set and production design. Tom has such expressive eyes and eyebrows, he can be fun to watch as an “actor”, believe it or not. The video definitely didn’t need so many gratuitous male gaze-y shots. Overall, like most AVA stuff, there’s a certain appeal but the rest is messy/generic/meaningless.
I read this as "expensive" eyes and eyebrows like 4 times before moving on and getting it in context. haha. long day
One of the youtube comments kinda seemed like a logical take on the video. The girl represents his wife. When he's on the couch focusing on the guitar she's trying to get his attention but he's brushing her off. Then he finally puts the guitar down and tries lusting after her but now she's in business attire and brushing him off. In the end they literally pull the plug on their relationship. Could all be a metaphor about how their careers got in the way of their relationship and they could never get their lives in sync.
I'm not sold on the music, but I liked seeing Tom act in a video. Admittedly I haven't seen all the AVA music videos, but this vid is bringing me back. I actually wish AVA stepped up the music to FOB level...I know...I shouldn't say that but it's out.
Seeing Tom so involved with music again, making music videos, performing, & looking like he’s having a great time doing it all makes me so very happy. Tom is my favorite.
