I feel like I am overbearingly negative towards anything Tom related (which stems from purely just being a fan of Tom) and I’ll be SO mad if I actually convinced myself a song is coming Tuesday and it’s still just a dumb announcement and I fell for it. As for an incoming album or tour ... yeah right LOL. I haven’t told myself this is happening until I see it. Not falling for that!
I think Hopeless Records would've been a better fit, as being on the same label as Dance Gavin Dance, Memphis May Fire, & Mayday Parade doesn't make much sense to me. Getting on the lineup with Sum 41, New Found Glory, The Used, & formerly All Time Low would've done them well, but I'm glad that they have legitimate commercial backing regardless.
True true, but Rise also released albums by Placebo and At the Drive In which IMO are of the more "psychedelic" variety that AVA is but still with super mainstream acts like Sevendust and the early 2000s warped bands like Hot Water Music, Goldfinger, and The Early November. Hopeless, at this point, makes more sense for Blink. I see your point though.
Maybe I'm wrong, but Rise seems like a good fit for bands that don't constantly put out music and tour full time. Such as The Early November, Acceptance, At The Drive-In. Makes sense that AVA would sign with them for distribution, a good tour, and then they'll probably go back to business as usual. ie: funding space projects/books/movies/tv shows, etc.
I'm actually extremely curious to hear Tom's explanations as to why he decided to sign on with a record label and actually have a producer after he's been so outspoken about both many many times in the past. My gut is that he wanted a label to front the bill and they're the ones that told him to get a producer.
It wouldn't happen but an At the Drive In / AVA coheadliner would be amazing. So many off key notes but still a great show habaha
I know he criticised blink for getting Feldmann on board but it was the "co-writing" aspect rather than producing wasn't it?
I googled a list of bands signed under Rise but sure how updated the list is but here are a few that might make sense. Face To Face Man Overboard Sleeping With Sirens The Early November Again not sure if these bands are still signed to Rise or what their situations are i.e. in terms of touring schedules etc.
Man Overboard is kinda on hiatus, SWS is now on Warner Brothers Records. TEN would kinda make sense? Maybe?
I would die if they did a AVA/Color Fred/Meg & Dia/ Ace Enders tour again. I mean Fred and Meg & Dia are active again....
Especially if they ever release Lilac. They'd both be promoting new albums, at least. Edit- this is about the Early November, haha
Yeah his exact quote/what he wrote was "I think partnering with a song-writer on the Blink album (Feldy - 5 Seconds of Summer, Good Charlotte) was too far a change". I'm talking more about how they recorded Neighborhoods and DED without a producer and how Tom was the driving force behind ditching a record label (only to change his tune and request that they end up getting one to record their next album). Also and I could be wrong I don't believe AVA ever used a producer either outside of Aaron Rubin. I think Tom is listed as the producer in all of their albums/EPs. So really Tom hasn't used a "real" producer since the Untitled album 16 years ago!
Thanks for the info. Like I said I have zero knowledge of anything those bands are doing right now. I simply googled Rise artists and scanned the band lists quickly for ones that made sense.
