I am an admitted AVA fanboy because WDNTW came out at a dark time in my life when I needed cheesy, positive, life-affirming lyrics like that. I always find something I dig on all the albums, though. Gun to my head, I'd say the best album is I-Empire.

 

I-Empire has some cool stuff, one of my favorite from that album is this song:

My favorite is Lifeforms because some of the songs like Losing My Mind (Tom was having fun with music again) and was just bringing in more of the punk stuff he moved away from (still wish we could get the demo from 0:51 to 1:17 in a future AvA or blink release

 

Been on a Love 1&2 kick this week. Been putting it on shuffle and skipping around. If you take the best of 1&2 there’s a really good album in there, if you take 1&2 and dream walker there’s a great album in there. Lifeforms is definitely their best since I Empire though.

Will always love this band though the formula got a bit tired in the middle.

 

Dreamwalker > LOVE 2 IMO

 

I always pair love 1&2 as one release, but I agree with that.

I dig that take. Lifeforms is really good, I just have such a deep connection to the first two records

Then if I had to rank Chasing Shadows and Of Nightmares....they'd be on the bottom.

 

But do you remember before the album dropped when Star of Bethlehem/True Love was combined as one longer song called "Stars in the Sky"?

 

I really wish that I could find the leak for WDNTW that I found on Kazaa/LimeWire before release that contained like 3-4 songs that weren't actually on the album lol

 

Nothing will compare to the memory I have of the interlude they did touring on I Empire. That drum part stays in my head forever and pretty much every time I get behind a drum set I rip through those two songs lmaooo.

The I-Empire part? IDK, that album just kind of bores me. I know its not a popular opinion.

 

It’s been fun over the years to revisit these and see how they hit me at different stages of life. I think the first two albums have aged well and are always fun to come back to. To me, their catalog still falls comfortably into three tiers:

Whisper, Lifeforms and Dream Walker would def be my top 3, despite how kinda bad Dream Walker sounds lol

 

Yeah I love the songs on Dream Walker but it sounds like absolute ass lol

 

Never found anything to like about Dream Walker, but I have been wondering if I should do a full discography run again soon....

 

Not even The Wolfpack or Tunnels?

 

I don't recall anything from that album standing out

This band just came at the right time for me. In the Ava doc from whisper David said the generation of kids didn’t have their own U2 and I always resonated with that. I stayed up until midnight to download whisper. I ran cross country in high school and college and I’ve got a pretty deep connection with the first couple of records and those fall runs.

Going to do a discography run through next week. Funny enough, I was playing love one and 2 a bunch after Ilan played his first show, and then today AK3 dropped another single with Atom bringing those parts on the Toms no other drummer in his genre can do better bringing back a sprinkle of that early Ava magic. Peak stuff. Going to try to cobble together a playlist of a records worth of the best songs from love 1 2 and dream walker. I’ll report back.

 

Yeah, I love all of their records tbh

 

I only like The Dream Walker and Lifeforms. Everything else blurs together to my ears.
