First there’s TMT&TS and now there’s this. This rules. It’s straight business, no fuss. They’re all on the same page and it shows. Tom should continue using pitch correction. It works really well with AVA given all the effects and synths going on. It’s like the final ingredient to their sound. Dropping the amps for AxeFx (Thanks to Ilan) also helps their case big time in the live setting. The instruments are Dialed. The. Fuck. In…it’s like they took a page out of Jimmy Eat World’s book. It definitely takes away some pressure from the rest of the performance. Anyways….Euphoria, Timebomb, Rebel Girl, Heaven and It Hurts were really dope. This made me like the new album even more than I already do. Fuck yeah.
Tom is going to have some kind of a feature in the newest Thrasher Magazine which is also the issue with the first black woman on the cover of Thrasher:
One last review of the empire club. Probably the biggest scam the band has put out. I was around for the modlife days and this was worse in every way. - They did not even come close to their monthly livestream promise. I think they hit 7 of 12 months and Tom hasn't been seen since July. - They finally released their vault ("Exclusive access to the "vault" of unseen AVA content.") after 10 months of waiting. It was 3 random photos and the livestreams from throughout the year. Nothing else. - Nothing was added to the Empire store other than the lifeforms vinyl. - They stopped doing the birthday stuff for members so if you had a birthday past March, you go nothing. - The forum is still really bugged and has not been fixed. - The news section of the site has been broken for over a month and post are not accessible. - Customer service has not responded to anyone for the last couple months. These include messages about the canceled tour, VIP information, and general site questions.
Surprised people haven't come together to do a class action. Seems very cut and dry for a case: you purchased something with these things promised, these things were not met. If I had bought the club and paid through PayPal, I would definitely have filed a claim.
I would if I could but it would be complicated and ultimately not worth everyone's time. I wish a big blink content creator or news org would call them out more than anything.
Thanks for these updates. Pretty disappointing yet not surprising. Thought they’d have really only done it if they had a plan to follow thru. Bummer for all the customers.
Man, I just feel bad for the die-hards because it ultimately comes down to hurting them time and time again. I love Tom to death and always will, but it seems like he only has the attention span for something until it stops being fun. Then it's on to the next project and rinse and repeat. I never had Modlife and thankfully decided not to buy the Empire Club, but it's starting to shape up like "Modlife me once, shame on you. Empire Club me twice, shame on me." Hoping the free extension of a year brings more to the purchasers. If it was me, I would have disputed with my credit card company months ago.
Tbh, it never seemed like Tom was really interested in this. Has he ever even promoted it outside of maybe a couple posts at the start? This seems like a fan club that the label or someone else wanted with the album release. Tom’s still accountable, but I’ve rarely if ever even seen him try to hype it up much.
I learned my lesson from ModLife when I spent all my money as a 16 year old on a subscription just to see Tom say hi on a camera once every 8 months. I feel bad for anyone who feels cheated out with this obviously, because it honestly feels like this was even worse.
