I don't love Spellbound, No More Guns, or A Fire In A Nameless Town. All the others are bangin' though, so I'm very happy with this. Excited to listen to it more.
Damnit, I can't take Timebomb seriously because all I can picture is that stupid video Tom posted to Instagram lmao
Liking an AVA album in 2021 is something I didn’t expect to happen but yeah probably my 3rd favorite AVA album behind the first 2. Really enjoying it.
What’s sad is even though there’s a new Tom album, I can’t help but feel like he won’t be back to doing this full time like he used to. Even this album took two years haha.
The prechorus of A Fire in a Nameless Town reminds of something so strongly, I’ll figure it out lol Idk why but it’s My Girls - Animal Collective
I’m probably the only one but I do really love No More Guns! But my top 3 would be 1.Timebomb 2.Automatic 3.Restless Souls I love this album so much as a whole though and the length is just perfect.
I picked up the indie exclusive vinyl a short time ago. The packaging is cool, but obviously easily scuffed and covered in fingerprints. I remember the variants for this being super cool, and the indie is no exception.
It’s good, I’ll come back to a few songs. But when it was over I was like ‘oh, that’s it?’ Probably because 7 of the 10 songs I had already heard. Anyway, looking forward to the NYC show in October.
prefer Dream Walker to this by just a hair but both are great and I'm happy to have them already know this album will absolutely kill in the car with the windows down
I wouldn't listen to WDNTW or I-Empire over this, so I'm declaring this the best AVA album. Both those albums really only have like three songs each I have any desire to listen to. And my least favorite songs, It Hurts and Rite of Spring
...I respect all opinions but singling out "Rites of Spring" as a least favourite is pretty wild "It Hurts" I can understand lmao
I know it's been said already, but how "Automatic" isn't a single is crazy! That guitar solo has some magic to it and the whole song is a gem. It's a solid record- I think I'd give it a 6.5/10 and it definitely exceeded my expectations. The lyrics overall bring it down but I think Tom really did some unique things on here that worked well. "All thats left is love" doesn't belong on the flow of this album but for me it would of been no lower then the 3rd best song. After reading that comment, I cannot unhear how similar the chorus of "Timebomb" is to "Rollercoaster" by Bleachers haha. I'm not the biggest AVA fan, but I'll forever be grateful for the masterpiece that is "The Adventure"
Wow, I'm so fucking glad that I avoided hearing any singles besides Rebel Girl and Kiss & Tell, I am so pleasantly surprised by this album. I think this is pretty easily Tom's best music since at least Dogs Eating Dogs, he sounds genuinely reinvigorated and experimental. Ilan was the best thing to happen to him in a long time I can't fucking wait for the tour now
