I'd love to see the data on how well this album does given how many songs were released before hand. On the one hand I look how the new Killer's album was just dropped out of thin air with little marketing and I loved hearing everything for the first time in one go. But not sure how that's translated into acclaim etc. And on the other, I was so starved for new Tom music that I couldn't resist getting to hear new Angels music and now there's only a few songs to look forward to. Two different bands obviously but interesting strategies.
Listening to this Tom interview on Zane Lowe. I wonder if Tom has ever had a meeting with a high ranking government official...?
Interview was really good. He even said the friendship with Mark is completely repaired at this point. Love to hear it.
Just got notification my vinyl shipped. Will probably get it tomorrow or Thursday considering it’s shipping from the city I live in lol.
Interesting to see a lot of promotion, interviews and TV appearances with the new album. It's pity that Nine by blink-182 hasn't had that much of a marketing.
Nine has been released on September 20, 2019. Covid has affected US and Europe in February-March 2020. For a promo of the album you don't need to wait 5-6 months.
This album has had two and a half years of promo. Nine felt like, and I could be wrong here, that there was really no push by the label, but maybe they just assumed that blink are huge and it didn’t need any promotion. I don’t know though. I’m here to listen and enjoy.
Yep, probably no push from the label. California has been promoted everywhere, but maybe because it's been the first album with Matt.
I could be wrong and could be blind to the promotion at the time, but the main promotion I saw was for the Enema 20th anniversary tour.
Yep, exactly - it's somehow pushed back the whole Nine promotion. And then in this case @AlwaysEvolving21 was right about the covid.
Hey, but let's get back to Angels And Airwaves here. Actually, I am looking forward to hearing the new album. And it's great for the band to get more attention, new listeners (I suppose) and tour again.
Just got my shipping notification for that signed vinyl. Stoked to give this album a listen. I haven’t listened to the singles they’ve been releasing and stopped playing Rebel Girl and Kiss & Tell. Still salty about them releasing the last track early on.
My knee has been bouncing in anticipation of a leak. I have a school trip on Thursday. Hoping to have this downloaded on my phone. Not usually one to condone leaks, but I've preordered 3+ vinyl copies and going to see them on tour and would like to have this on the 12+ hour trip.
It's really interesting to see the amount of leaks significantly drop in recent years. All these big releases in the past couple months leak a day early tops seems like.
