With Rebel Girl being released in 2019 and us knowing an album was being recorded, this rollout feels like an eternity. The last couple of weeks is dragging big time.
Figure I'd paste this here too. Here are my final thoughts on the Empire Club before the Lifeforms release. Reviewing The empire club based on their own described offerings. Platinum Membership Card that gets you 1) access to the members only merch booth line at headline shows and 2) discounts on select merch items at live shows. - Have not been able to use this yet. Bag of James Coffee, specially roasted for The Empire Club. - Very Good The Empire Club Exclusive 3’ x 5’ Flag. - Good Birthday Message from AVA. - Same message for everyone. Seems like something they added to pad content. First access to concert tickets, VIP packages, meet & greets.** - This was confusing for access but worked. Monthly livestreams, chats, Q&A and other fun interviews with the band. - Bad: The save interviews are like a minute long at best. They do not save the chats/Q&As so if you miss them due to work or other things, you are SOL. First access to listening and viewing parties for the upcoming record, music videos and beyond. - Badish. Yes you get a first listen but its 12 hours prior to the actual release. Depending on your time zone it it also LATE at night. Access to The Empire Club exclusive merch store and merch offers. - Has very little offerings and the only thing they have added since release was the vinyl preorder. Exclusive access to the "vault" of unseen AVA content. - They havent posted anything for this category unless they are counting photos which is a joke. Exclusive access to the creative process with never before heard demos, studio footage and interviews with the band. - We had one temporary demo that is no longer accessible, there is no studio footage, and again the interviews are roughly a minute. Access to Private Member Forum. - You call this a forum? This is a poorly designed bulletin board at best. MySpace had better features. This thing makes me want to rage. It is a buggy, barely usable mess. Receive 10% Year-Long Discount in AVA Official Merch store. Apparel and accessories only. - this is fine Receive 10% Birthday Discount in The Empire Club Official Merch store. - this is fine I'd give the Empire Club a 5/10
I think that’s a fair assessment. The Q&As do stay up for a few days, though, so as long as you check somewhat regularly you can catch them.
Good to know about empire club. Album is almost here so I’m happy I held out. The only music related clubs/ Patreon’s I pay for are the chorus subscription and a monthly Patreon subscription to Tyler Hilton. Tyler’s big package is $40 a month and you get to have coffee with him via zoom every week for like an hour, a monthly live concert stream where he takes requests, and then he will share demos with you and ask for your feedback on new music. Pretty rad IMO. I wish more singer songwriters did that.
Yeah comparing all the other bands I am/have subscribed to through a personal fan site or patreon, Angels has been the worst in pretty much every category.
Question about the music preorders. I suppose it's more urgent for vinyls, seeing as they are selling out. But CDs. I finally bit the bullet, so to speak, and preordered a CD cuz i really want this music. But do y'all think it would have stayed in stock well after release day? And with the talk of more material to be released in the future, i wonder if a deluxe version will be made and i rushed things. Idk, but like rushed is a funny word in Tom land. I think I waited long enough for a new AVA album, even if i have to buy a deluxe version later. Idk Question is, about the CDs being in stock after release. You think they would be?
I've seen some recent bands sell out CDs on their webstore but still have stock on amazon (Turnstile for example) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B096XKM2LK/?tag=absolutepunk-20 But there's no way there's gonna be a deluxe any time soon. I'd say grab it now.
I haven’t listened to Losing My Mind (I don’t think?), Spellbound, or any of the songs they played live. I’ve only listened to Restless Souls a few times and haven’t listened to ANY of the previously released tracks since Restless Souls was out. So it’s been a while. Trying to have this album be as fresh as it can be for next week!
i really couldnt agree any more….. especially the “Vault” which is an absolute joke and the “exclusive access” bull shit. We had rebel girl in demo form. Waste of money for sure also…. How the fuck do i access the VIP tickets?? Keeps sending to the sign up page
