Wow, with all the variants that sold out that means they've already exceeded 4,000 copies sold. This might be their best first week debut since I Empire. Also those Newbury Comics and Rock Sound variants look sick. I need to restrain myself from ordering another copy.
I doubted the album and tour and everything along the way, but I’m so happy it’s all official and happening. Preordered the vinyl and will most certainly be turning up on a Wednesday in October to see them.
Oh, and I just noticed that the Rebel Girl music video was taken off of Youtube. Maybe they realized how cringey it was!
the versions included with the new single on Spotify sounded slightly different to me, but I’m not sure if they actually did
I feel like half of the tours that have been announced for the fall have acts playing in much bigger rooms then they normally would. AVA doing a 5k room, Coheed doing a 19k ampitheater, Rancid/Dropkick doing a 15k arena and Bayside doing a 3k room. I think these promoters are really banking on people being so anxious for live music that they'll flock to these shows.
AvA does have a very rabid fan base so they are bigger than bands like...Silverstein or Bayside. But I think they are overshooting the venues. The one they’re playing in Columbus is an outdoor amphitheater that blink-182 sells out.
i dunno. seeing angels and airwaves (or any band i like for that matter) in a big venue that's nowhere near full sounds pretty fun to me haha. not as good as seeing them in an actual small venue, but close.
I don’t know if I agree- we got the first single two years ago, lol. Then another single a few months later, and then a lot of nothing. Yesterday was a good day for fans, though!
All this rollout hype got me thinking about the lead up to I-Empire. Does anyone remember the "first leaks"? There was a listening party where they played Everythings Magic, Lifeline, Secret Crowds, and Sirens for a select few and someone uploaded onto (Tom's Angels?) from their phone. So much excitement from those shitty files lol. I just found them on an old music library harddrive and gave them a listen. Fun little memory. So stoked for new AVA.
Not sure if this has been posted. The Truth Is Out There: The “wild adventures” of Tom DeLonge and Angels & Airwaves — Kerrang!
Yeah I remember that! They did a tiny acoustic show, and ended it by playing the four new songs over the speakers. I played the crap out of the terrible rips of Sirens and Secret Crowds haha
That’s awesome that he seems to be better friends with Mark now. Really stoked for everything he’s doing and been doing.
Wow hell yeah I did too.. Man.. "I-Empire" is still my favorite AvA record and I cant even tell if the nostalgia and time it hit in my life are to blame or enhance it even more.
