I read the first Poet Anderson book when it came out around 2015, but I never touched the sequel or the Sekret Machines books. Any good so far?
The lyrics are maybe a bit too on the nose at times with these newer AVA songs, I will say... but I think I’m having a harder time with Tom’s delivery at certain points. And maybe the lyrics play a bit into that too... like I think Tom at least sounds great in the verses of Euphoria, and prechorus too, but the way he’s singing the chorus in parts... I just don’t know man lol. Sonically though, it’s rad. Can’t complain.
I bought the first Sekret Machines book and totally forgot I bought it until now. I’ll have to make my way around to it eventually.
I read the first Chasing Shadows book.. as a fan of UFO stuff like Tom is.. it was a fun fictional read. (Characters based off conspiracy stuff) Im reading the Gods Man & War book 1 right now (Which is not a story but just like... its sort of like "Children of The Gods" by Erich von Daniken.. Stuff to make you go "Maybe? What if? Aliens? look at this? Huh?"
Update, unless you want coffee or 'early access' to tickets/merch, The Empire Club is a waste of money.
I'm not sure if it is yet or not. We're two weeks into a year long membership. Hard to judge already at this point. A lot more could be coming.
What is it with bands selling coffee. Lol Buddy from Senses Fail just came out with some not long ago
David Kennedy literally owns a coffee shop though. Different than slapping your name on someone else’s beans.
Hawthorne Heights has had two different flavors Andrew McMahon had one Senses Fail (as you said) Coheed and Cambria has two flavors Taking Back Sunday had one bring me all the coffee!
Hawthorne Heights- Burkhardt Coheed And Cambria- The Knowledge Hawthorne Heights- Amado Andrew McMahon- Four Asprin Morning Taking Back Sunday- TBS Blend Coheed And Cambria- The Beast Can’t rank Senses fail because I haven’t tried it
I'll continue to update on the empire club but it is just bad so far and knowing Tom and modlife, I doubt it gets much better. General thoughts so far: I cant believe they thought a site design like that would be acceptable today. Like, was this Tom's idea? No notification features. No community features other than general sequential post. MySpace had more features in its time. So far there's no meaningful exclusive media. (I'm not counting the couple of 2 minutes videos of Tom and David saying nothing.) Its just old videos that are on youtube and some random photo sets. The transmissions just disappear once they are done. I don't get why they just don't add them to the exclusive media area. The early listen to euphoria was a fail as well. Everyone in the entertainment industry knows music releases early internationally so why didnt they plan for that? I have zero faith they will plan for it in the future. There was also nothing specially about
Randomly stumbled across this today, I dont think I ever saw this when it came out two years ago. Vocally this is the best Tom has sounded on a live recording in a long time.
It Hurts, Paralyzed, and Kiss With A Spell on this are my favorite live performances by them. Really good. Also shoutout to the engineer who mixed that because it sounds absolutely mint
Album name confirmed as Lifeforms. It was already pretty obvious it was with it being on the tour poster but a picture of the vinyl test pressing has the album title as Lifeforms.
